Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger go on a heist in the trailer for Bonnie & Clyde

Sep. 23, 2013by:

Awhile ago we heard that a BONNIE & CLYDE film was making its way to back to cinemas. What was the result? A television movie to broadcast on A&E, Lifetime, and The History Channel starring Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger.

While the whole Lifetime thing might throw you off, this still looks like it might be worth checking out. You have Hirsch, William Hurt, and Holly Hunter, who in my opinion would have made a great Bonnie when she was younger. Most of us are familiar with Arthur Penn's 1967 version with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, a version that has yet to receive any real competition.

I will warn you that if you don't know anything about BONNIE & CLYDE that this trailer gives away everything. So know your history folks.

Synopsis: Bonnie & Clyde is a star-studded miniseries for HISTORY, LIFETIME and A&E networks. The four-hour, two-night event miniseries stars Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) in the title roles of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, the Depression-era outlaw couple whose criminal exploits have assured them lasting fame for eight decades.

BONNIE & CLYDE can be seen on the small screen December 8, 2013.

So, Holliday Grainger looks just a LITTLE more like Bonnie Parker than Faye Dunaway did i.e. Bonnie wasn't as pretty as Dunaway. Showing the end was SO unnecessary. It's one of those things where 99% of people know in some way, shape, or form (even if they skipped Arthur Penn's masterpiece) what happened to Bonnie and Clyde. Considering it's based on a true story, I kind of think that the movie has unfairly overshadowed the story of Bonnie and Clyde so I'm glad on one level that they made this,

Looks like it would be worth watching for free, not much more.

Yeah looks very so so, but that shot at the end of them getting shot up in the car is pretty brutal. Although the CGI isn't exactly superb, if you look carefully you can see Bonnie taking a slug to the head.

Warren Beatty will forever own this role

There is no way, as great of an actor as Emile is, could he ever make a better B&C movie than the 1967 classic. When I say classic I mean I watch it at least once a year and it still looks and feels new. It is one of those movies that withstands the tests of time and will go on as a piece of movie history.

Hurt and Hunter together again. Probably no scenes together.

Is this the same movie that Hilary Duff dropped out of? If so we definitely dodged a bullet there, though I'm not sure any movie could really tackle the story better than Penn's film.
