Exclusive: New art from Skull Island: The Birth of Kong Issue #2

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

We fist told you guys back in March that KONG: SKULL ISLAND was getting a comic book prequel/sequel called SKULL ISLAND: THE BIRTH OF KONG. Then in April we brought you the book's trailer and cover art.

The second issue of the 4-part Skull Island: The Birth of Kong comic book series hits stores & Comixology on June 28th, and today we have three new images from issue #2, including an AITH exclusive!

The AITH exclusive image is the third one down with the two massive monkeys stomping around wherever they damn well please, but the others are f*cking cool as hell too! Kong(s) stomping the ass of those Skullcrawler things looks like good times to me.

Below you'll find all the images I just mentioned along with a rundown on issue #2. After checking through all of that cool shite, make sure to hit us up on social media and let us know what you think of SKULL ISLAND: THE BIRTH OF KONG on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

SKULL ISLAND: THE BIRTH OF KONG Issue #2 rundown:

Taking place 20 years after the events of the film, the book expands the MonsterVerse as it reveals the origin of Kong, new monsters and also shows how this god-like primate has grown into a larger and more dangerous beast. After the first issue largely set the stage, issue #2 begins to reveal key details about the mythic origins of Kong.

Both a sequel and a prequel to the film, the story tells of a secret team of Monarch operatives returning to Skull Island to discover the truth behind Kong and the island he was born to protect. In doing so, they unlock an ancient history of monster conflict, witness the primal war between Kong and an otherworldly ecosystem of deadly new creatures, and finally reveal how this lonely god became the last of his kind. Featuring new monsters and previously unseen Skull Island locations, the book gives fans a chance to see how Kong has evolved since the events of the film.

With a dramatic narrative that paves the way for what is to come, fans will discover new revelations that point to the future of the MonsterVerse.
