LOVING tells the story of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (portrayed by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry – and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since. Does the trailer inspire? Find out for yourself!

Jeff Nichols generally brings strong characters to the forefront as far as his films are concerned, and for that reason he's amassed a following. While I've only really seen MUD from the man's filmography, LOVING seems a little bit off in comparison. I'm not saying this looks full Nicholas Sparks, but if you told me LOVING was premiering on the Lifetime channel, I wouldn't bat an eye. Also, I'm pretty sure that's the longest I've ever seen Nick Kroll keep a straight face.

LOVING will open in select theaters on November 4, 2016.

Besides Joel Edgerton needing to choose an accent to speak in, it looks really good and slightly above the norm for this type of story.

I'm in

As soon as I saw Jeff Nichols I knew I would be watching this one. Never heard the story before but with the quality involved on and off screen I imagine it will be excellent.

I will admit when I first saw Marton Csokas' racist policeman, I didn't edxactly roll my eyes, but had a mental eyeroll, because there is a formula that was so oft-used in the '90s for civil rights movies, involving the personification of a racist system in one person (think Dan Hedaya in "The Hurricane"). In truth, if that's how they play it, then it's letting the system off easy. Otherwise, this looks really good. The leads look pretty great in the roles (initially I was disappointed not

The leads look pretty great in the roles (initially I was disappointed not seeing American actors, since this is a story that's long overdue for us to be telling, but damn did they get the right people for the job). I was pleasantly surprised to see Jeff Nichols' name in the credits. He usually can be counted on to deliver surprising emotional notes that a lesser director would smooth over. This is definitely a movie I want to see.

A Lifetime movie?? Dude, are you kidding me? This actually looks excellent. Read this case in law school. I for one would happily check this film out. Looks like it could be really good.
