Jonathan Liebesman & producers want to journey to Dimension X in TMNT sequel

Aug. 12, 2014by:

What do you want to see in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2, besides less annoying humans? Some believe there’s a chance characters like Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady will make an appearance in the sequel, and in an interview with Screen Rant, several TMNT filmmakers said they’d love to explore Dimension X in the next movie.

The site asked director Jonathan Liebesman and producers Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form if the plan for the sequel is to “go big and sci-fi” by introducing Dimension X. Liebesman’s response? “F*ck yes.”

Dimension X is an alternate dimension that has appeared in the TMNT comics, and in the original animated series it was the home of several characters, including the villain Krang. It is also featured heavily in the Nickelodeon series.

The filmmakers then went on to talk about how they’ve already had conversations about Dimension X.

Liebesman: I would love to. I mean it’s not up to me. It’s up to all of us to decide.

Fuller: But we’ve talked about those worlds already.

Form: There are scripts that have been written for this movie that integrated those worlds into it already…

Liebesman: They were just too…it made the movie a bit too unfocused for this particular story.

It sounds like Jonathan Liebesman would like to return for the sequel, but it still hasn’t been announced if he’ll be behind the camera for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2. I know most of you aren’t pleased another movie is in the works, but it’s going to happen, and the only thing we can do is hope it will be better than the first one.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 is scheduled to be released on June 3, 2016.

If it's anything like this new TMNT, I'll pass. Man, was that film mediocre. I can't believe it beat Guardians at the B.O.

I enjoyed the new TMNT. And as a fan of the old 90s cartoon, I like the idea of going to dimension x and bringing in Krang, Rocksteady, and Bebop. That would also allow them to turn Baxter Stockman into a fly.

This is exactly what I wanted in the older films. These new films do not adhere to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lore that we all know so it won't mean anything.

Maybe the lore YOU only know. This storyline is based off I believe an IDW storyline origin. You can hate the movie all you want, but don't pretend that TMNT hasn't had multiple iterations over the years.
I hear people complaining that Splinter reads ninjitsu and teaches himself and in turn his turtles, but at the same time they aren't bothered by a rat mimicking his master Yoshi movies in his cage from the original movie. It's just as ridiculous but it's still fun.
The plot was horrible

The plot was horrible but I still found the movie enjoyable and would LOVE to finally see Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady on the big screen. Hell, we might finally get Bebop and Rocksteady in the new animated toon sometime soon. Sure are two characters that share similar look from the 80's cartoon.

What I want to see from a new TMNT film is for everyone involved in this one to fuck off.

Honestly, I've always wondered a bit about how well something like Krang could play in a live-action movie. Since he's literally a mastermind. I haven't seen the new one, but if it's as bad as they say, then maybe we'd be better not knowing.

I haven't seem TMNT yet, but...

i shudder to think what Krang would look like with this CGI team.

What's disappointing about the TMNT film out now is that it really isn't difficult to make it a good one, and the potential for a decent film is there, but stuff like the convoluted backstory, design overkill and the miscasting of April bogs it way down.

Unfocused?? What do they call the shitstorm they just pooped out into theaters??

The TMNT movie out now is unfocused... Why even bother trying to say the scripts are good or bad, nobody making the movie cares, they just want $$$.
