Main cast revealed for Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four!

Feb. 20, 2014by: Paul Shirey

The Wrap is reporting that the final cast for Josh Trank's reboot of THE FANTASTIC FOUR has found its...Fantastic Four. The previously rumored (and long denied) Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan are in as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, respectively. Not a huge surprise there as their names have been in circulation almost as long as the project was announced. One issue for Teller is the scheduling of INSURGENT, the sequel to DIVERGENT, which shoots at the same time as THE FANTASTIC FOUR, so some kinks are still being ironed out there. Kate Mara is on deck for Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, beating out the likes of Emmy Rossum and Saoirse Ronan. A great opportunity for the actress, who has been building a name for herself with roles in American Horror Story and House of Cards.

Lastly, and most surprisingly, is word that Jamie Bell is being tapped for Ben Grimm/The Thing. It's the first we've heard of Bell's involvement in the new franchise, with names like Christian Cooke and Josh Gad being floated before. Bell has yet to sign on the dotted line, as this is not an official announcement, but all is expected to fall into place. With the Fantastic Four now assembled, Fox is expected to home in the main villain, presumably Doctor Doom.

What do you think? Will this cast work for you?

THE FANTASTIC FOUR is set for release on June 19, 2015.

Interesting.

Michael B. Jordan seems to be the only actor who fits the role in this cast. I have seen the other actors in other films and I have no confidence they will fit the Fantastic Four. But Kate Mara will probably be better than Jessica Alba. But maybe they have a whole new take on the characters and it might actually work out. I mean, this is an adaptation and does not have to be completely faithful to the source material. Look at every other comic book film or adaptation for that matter: Jurassic

Lets see how this goes. Most likely it will suck like the rest of the marvel films.

The age changes are what bother me

The FF weren't these ages when the went into space. Johnny Storm was explicitly stated to be a junior in high school and Sue was in her mid 20's. Reed was originally stated to be 9 years older than Sue but this was later retconed to six years. This means if she was 23-25 in FF #1 that Reed was 32-34. Reed: 32 / Miles Teller: 27
Sue: 23 / Kate Mara: 30
Johnny: 16 / Michael B. Jordan: 27
Ben: 37 / Jamie

Or in other words they totally threw the ages from the comics out the window. The ages had a significant impact on the dynamic of the group in the early comics. Sue's parents didn't approve of her relationship with Reed for many years because of the age gap. Sue was extremely protective of Johnny often referring to him as her kid brother, and an essential part of his character was the difficulty of balancing his responsibility to the team and newfound celebrity status with the challenges of being a highschooler, much like Spider-Man. Ben was protective toward Sue because of her age and naivete and the age gap between them (about 15 years) was used as a way to explain why never was tempted by romantic feelings toward her. None of this will be able to be present in the new film because of the age changes.

Yikes!

I didn't think it was possible to fuck this franchise up any further. Now I'm supposed to believe that this group of children are supposed to be astronaut super scientists?? They barely look old enough to drive cars, let alone be sent into outer space. Holy shnikes, Hollywood, give me the keys, you're drunk...

Well the good news is that if this bombs maybe they will finally sell the rights to Marvel.

I actually think Michael B. Jordan is the only actor that suits his role; personality wise. The others don't hit the mark. But then again I was wrong about Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight. He was great.

By the way... not all black people talk like that.

You look at something unknown and unfamiliar to alot of people and that is the Guardians of the Galaxy. And after the trailer people can't wait to see it even though most people never read the comics it's based on. The reason why is Marvel actually gives a shit about its fans and wants to deliver us a great film by choosing the right talent to do so.

Then you having something like this that's familiar and established with most general people and guess what happens....the studio fucks it up

This will be on the same sub par level as the first Amazing Spider Man reboot and therefore will suck.

If you look past his skin color Michael B Jordan is perfect for Johnny Storm, it just so happens that the best choice happens to be a black actor. You'll get your white Johnny Storm in 8 years when they remake it again... relax people

Personally, and I'm not a big F4 guy or anything, but I'm more concerned about the white Sue Storm. I understand how adoption works, but it's not a necessary story arc to have.

Had this on a thread, but figured I'd put it on the main board.

1) making changes to ANY adaptation does NOTHING to "change some of the greatest stories ever told". If somebody made a shitty version of The Catcher in the Rye it would in no way diminish that book as a classic.

2) There is a huge difference between fictional characters and non-fictional characters. There is also a difference between context. Comparing this casting to Nelson Mandela or 12 Years A Slave is RIDICULOUS. Those

Those people actually existed (yes, 12 Years A Slave is based on a true story). As long as Red Skull is depicted as a Nazi leader, he should be white. However, it would be possible for Red Skull to be adapted to a modern context and then he would not have to be white - eventually there will be young versions of characters introduced in the present day, this is just inevitable.

3) Our popular culture should (in part) reflect our time. The comics of the 60s and 70s were a reflection of the time period that they were written. If we make casting choices based on this, then we are reflecting cultural norms of a bygone (and racist) era. In modern adaptations we should strive to create content that reflects the more accepting world that we are living in. These films are just that: ADAPTATIONS!

4) The reason why Falcon, Black Panther, and Blade should not be white is not because there is some intrinsic blackness for their characters (although, with Black Panther you could make the case), but it's because our films are still not fully reflecting the society that we are living in. We need black superheros because we have black kids. Making Falcon white would (in fact) be racist because it would be taking away one of the few black superheros that actually exist. Making The Human Torch black does not do this because there are plenty of white superheros and very few viable black ones.

5) Michael B. Jordan is a fantastic choice for this role. Complaining about his race simply demonstrates that you are ignorant of the world around you and of the context in which the Fantastic Four were originally created. You can take your old comic books. I'll take the star of Fruitvale Station, who has experience on Friday Night Lights and The Wire ANY DAY.

I wasn't comparing those examples to this casting, I was using the examples to show that colour is a factor when it comes to dealing with characters social and cultural background and is essential to how it is portrayed on screen.

Start of rant...

It seems that everything these days is trying to appease everyone and I am getting tired of it. Gay, straight, white, black, yellow whatever. Who gives a fuck! I truly don't care if Ellen Page is a lesbian, WHOOP DE FUCKIN DO! Nor do I really care if the Human Torch is black because guess what, this movie is going to be terrible with a black Johnny Storm or a white Johnny Storm. To quote Marty from True Detective "When the hell did everyone become such drama queens!" End of rant...

I've changed my mind

From what someone else has told me, the Fantastic Four were indeed this age when their fated accident happened, so this would be accurate casting. I was always under the impression that they were accomplished scientists rather than fresh college graduates, so I guess I was wrong on that point.

With regards to the difference in race between Johnny and Sue, look, if they had interracial parents, or if they had the same mother but different fathers, or vice versa, then they could easily be

Black & White

Casting Michael as Torch would have made more sense to me if they'd have cast a black actress as Sue Storm. Then the studio could play the mixed race relationship card and they could have evened out the color table; two black, two white... Well, two black, 1 white and 1 orange, I guess.

Terrible casting.

Michael B. Jordan is a good actor. But I never would cast him as Johnny Storm. One he is black and looks nothing like Johnny Storm so it will be hard to believe he is Johnny Storm. Everybody else is too young and if the go black with Johnny but then not Sue doesn't make sense. " But he is adopted in this version", LAME! You can be all 'noble' and be like 'it doesn't matter who they cast as long as they can do the part." I'm sure Daniel Day Lewis could nail the part for Spiderman but I would

I kind of feel like they should be older.

Reed Richards, 37-40ish. Sue about 38ish both highly intelligent. Met in school, and have been together for years. Drawn together by their love of science. After the "accident" they're worried that it might of been the science that has kept them together, and not passion for each other. More military man, than scientist, but he gets the jargon, mostly from years with Sue and Reed. His marriage failed years ago, mostly because work always came first. Johnny, cocky, but dedicated. His in is early thirties and still struggling to grow up. All business when it comes to work. Ladies man, or so he thinks. He's not as successful as he leads on. But I'm very upset they didn't cast an African American actress to play Sue Storm. They're brother and sister. They should be the same race.

I am not impressed with the casting overall. I think they cast all of the characters too young with the exception of Kate Mara. Comic fans have a picture that exists in their head already, and most of the time when you cast a vastly different type you risk alienating the group of people who are going to be the foundation of your fanbase. In the case of Fantastic 4 you are already dealing with a franchise that has had two kicks at the cat that left most fans cold, why would you risk a 3rd. I'm not saying it won't be a good film and that the cast won't pull it off, but they are going to have a seriously uphill battle on their hands.

Lol, I just think Trank chose Michael B. Jordan because he knew for a fact that he was a good actor that could embody Johnny Storm. He didn't do it to cause a scene, and he didn't do it to be especially inclusive. Lol so you're issue is with the director, not the color of an actor's skin? Good..?

Trank has actually made two feature films as of yet, both generally well-received by critics and movie-goers alike: the first, an independent starring Patton Oswalt, and the second, Chronicle. The former currently stands at 86% on RT while the latter stands at 85% (with a 71% in terms on non-critic viewers. So... I guess I'm sorry you didn't enjoy a movie that most others did haha).

The last FF movie, though

The last FF movie, though deemed as "an improvement over its predecessor," has a mere 37% (51% non-critic) rating.

Chronicle's budget was $16 million and made $126 million worldwide. Rise of the Silver Surfer's budget was a bloated $180 million and made $286 million worldwide.

This means that a new director like Trank was able to make a movie about superpowered people that not only pleased critics and viewers more than a sequel to the original Fantastic Four (which was running on more starpower and years of comic book history), but he also made just as much money--even more if you think about the cost:benefit ratio. So... yes. I think Trank has proven himself able to give us and the studio a good FF movie that will be the first of a revitalized franchise. :)

Have no problems with the color of Jordan's skin color. Just don't think he looks like Johnny Storm even if you painted him white.

I wonder if people are also against a black James Bond?

Most of the negative comments are saying Jordan is wrong for Johnny Storm because he's black which goes against the PREVIOUS incarnations of the character. This is a new introduction to the team, for a different audience. People who don't believe siblings can come from different ethnic backgrounds get your heads out of your asses. Would you be against Idris Elba playing James Bond because Bond has always been played by a white guy? Unless the race of the character is essential to the character

Their colour is essential to their characters. We have enough 'diversity' in cinema and tv and adverts. Stop eroding at existing pieces of 'art' to apologize for a generation that wasn't ours.

Bobafett2--are you goddam kidding? Bond's "whiteness" is not an inherent part of his character, and casting a white dude as Mandela would NOT be the same thing. Your argument doesn't hold up to even the slightest scrutiny. There's actually not much diversity in the media and changing the race of a future iteration of a character would do nothing to erode any existing art. How would that even work?

I'm not against Idris Elba being James Bond, but I do have a problem with the Michael B Jordan casting, and here's why. James Bond has been on the screen 23 times over a 50 year period. The Fantastic Four has been on the big screen twice, three times if you count the Corman piece of shit. It was impossible to make this movie back in the 80's when I was a kid and actively reading the comics. I had to wait until the Tim Story FF movies came out to see it on the big screen, and it was hugely

I had to wait until the Tim Story FF movies came out to see it on the big screen, and it was hugely disappointing. the casting was ok but the scripts were weak as hell. Now we're getting a second chance and FOX is making changes that really do matter. Kate Mara is not my choice but after seeing her fine ass in House of Cards I can live with it. I've never seen Miles Teller before so I can't judge his talent, but he doesn't look anything near the way I picture a young Reed Richards. Billy Elliot as Ben Grimm??? WTF??? Please Gods of Hollywood. Give us just one Fantastic Four movie that does the comic justice. That's all I ask. Then you can proceed with raping my childhood.

Imagine the outcry if Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier had been played by a white guy. After all, is his skin color essential to the character? Nope. But there would have been cries of racism from the rooftops.

Give it up race baiters... just because we want our fictional characters to stay the same race as they have always been, instead of casting for shock value or stunt casting, does not make us racists.

In many ways, it does. Falcon, is being played by a black guy. Your hypothetical "what if" is a useless example because he isn't white, asian, or hispanic. Falcon's race isn't essential, just like Nick Fury's race was always the same until a different interpretation was given to resemble Sam Jackson. Fans, back then as they're doing now, complained and ranted about how the creators were destroying the character by changing his race although his characteristics hadn't changed. So at the end of

So at the end of the day, this is the same crap that goes on with every comic book character casting announcement. Same attempted justification for people assuming the studios do this for shock value instead of appealing to the "die hard" fans who know best because they clearly are producers of this multi-million dollar movie.

Was Johnny chosen to be black...coz he's the coolest member of the group..and only a black guy can do cool? It really doesn't bother me that they're going to change his race if it didn't affect anything else. However, you've then got the knock on effect on his relationship to Sue. It doesn't bother me that Sue and Johnny might not be siblings in this version...but if not...are they still going to have the surname Storm or does that get changed too? If a black member is needed...why not choose Reed or Ben...or change Sue's race to keep the sibling relationship unaffected?

Meh

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, the Fantastic Four didn't become the Fantastic Four until their scientific mission into space. By that time, they were already accomplished scientists.

These actors all seem way too young. Is this going to be some kind of CW or Twilight-esque interpretation of the Fantastic Four? If so, the other two movies may look like Shakespeare when all is said and done.

Reed was this brainiac who raced through his education and became a renowned scientist at an early age, with Thing being his roommate. I believe Invisible Girl and the Torch were about 19 and 16 when they joined the other two.

Reed Richards having grey temples very early on, in his late twenties, was a joke that was often referenced in the comic book.

Source Material??

The problem with source material for all the comics we venerate and glorify, is that they are inherently racist as they have always existed. Until Storm came along in the late seventies, there wasn't a single X-Men of color. Fantastic Four was an all white team. Spiderman was white. Hell even most of the human villains were white. They were created during a period in America when people of color had no voice or representation in the mainstream media. So it falls to to our generation, as we pick

They were created during a period in America when people of color had no voice or representation in the mainstream media. So it falls to to our generation, as we pick these stories up and carry them into the modern era, to update the stories and make them accessible for EVERYBODY who views them. So what if they were brother and sister before? Why does the story need to be canon? Your taking about a story format that has been rewriting itself for decades anyway. How many times has Marvel rebooted the Xmen comics? How many times have heroes died and returned? If it's acceptable for the comic industry to do so, why shouldn't Hollywood as it brings these stories to film (or Digital?)? People claim they are not being racist when they defend their right to demand canonical treatment of old characters, but these are statements born of ignorance and subtle racism. And if you think you understand what subtle racism is and you still say these things, then I suggest taking a moment to do some research on what constitutes subtle racism. Keep an open mind and quit bitching. It really shouldn't offend you so much.

It's not racist because I myself am a white man. It's honesty. It's viewing history with objectivity with a definitive view toward a better place in America where we have true mutual understanding and acceptance, and not the casual politeness we hide our prejudices behind so as not to appear so.

How about we reboot Batman again, and cast a black actor because they sure as shit weren't creating black comic characters in the 1930's. How about Denzel Wahington as Superman? Or Morgan Freeman as Magneto??? Sounds stupid? It's because it is. In fact I believe your post to be more racist than the people like myself who are complaining about this. You think Johnny Storm should be black so that he's more accessible to EVERYBODY? What are you implying? That black people wont watch this movie if it has a white cast? Now who's being racist?

And truthfully Bobafett2, you missed the part where Manga of yesteryears featured characters with decidedly white American qualities. There was a fascination with American culture that dominated there illustrations. The blue hair adorning the heads of so many characters was a simulation of blond hair, which genetically doesn't exist in Japanese people. And yes it is actually a bit racist that they would only feature Japanese characters in their films, as so many of their citizens are descended

All this bigotry is the product of an education system and an antiquated approach to media imagery that has led to a total lack of understanding the condition of race in America. It's failed so many in this country, but there are a generation of kids growing up now who will see movies like this, featuring heroes with different skin tones, gender, and seuality, who will grow up with a broader sense of what being American means, without the constant assault of white imagery the rest of us are struggling to overcome.

According to your logic we should go back through history and change some of the greatest stories ever told to accommodate different ethnicities. Robin Hood should be black. I know what being an American is. It means everyone is free to voice their opinions, even people as misguided as you.

2) There is a huge difference between fictional characters and non-fictional characters. There is also a difference between context. Comparing this casting to Nelson Mandela or 12 Years A Slave is RIDICULOUS.

William Miller, you are basically saying that you thinks it's ok for movie studios to cast black actors as traditionally white characters, but not vice versa??? What a bunch of bullshit. Just because we have more minorities in this country now than ever, doesn't mean we need to rewrite history. These comic book characters were written as white. Get over it and start lobbying Hollywood to make more movies staring some of the black comic book characters.

Lets be honest, a strong reason he was chosen for Torch is probably cause they worked together on Chronicle. There was no discussion, no speculation, from day one it was he is the new Torch. On the subject of his race: What it works out to is we're racist if we want Torch to stay white and we're racist if we were to say we want a white Blade. And if they cast a woman as Doom, i suppose

Yes you will. Because these things shouldn't bother you so much. What difference do these changes make in your daily life? Does affect your work? Or your ability to raise your family? Does it interfere with your emotional well-being? This is the problem. It's your insistence on giving a shit about race that makes it racist in the first place. In this day and age race shouldn't even be a discusion. A man is a man, a woman is a woman (unless they're transgender and that's a whole other topic).

Based on this logic there isn't an aspect of movie making that I should have an opinion on unless it effects my livelihood? This does effect my emotional well being to the extent that Hollywood is so out of touch with their audience, they don't know who they're making these movies for. This movie will bomb. Mark my words.

The casting that turns me off to this is Miles Teller. After seeing him in 21 and Over I can't stand him. Its like he was trying too hard to be Vince Vaughn in that movie. I'm neutral though because I like the other folks that got cast.

I don't get it. Are Johnny and Sue Storm still brother and sister? Half brother and sister? Cousins? Adopted? Related? I'm fine with whichever but I'm curious which.

Seriously, when was Sue and Johnny being siblings ever really relevant to the Fantastic Four? If they weren't related, it wouldn't change anything.

It's not like Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, where the writers actually made it matter in their stories.

I agree. It's of no consequence. But there are many real world scenarios that would explain how siblings could be of different races. Seems like a tough pill for some to swallow.

I don't know if it's really a tough pill to swallow. I'm not reading many people complaining about it. Most of the comments I see are from people talking about how others might have a problem with it. But mostly, it doesn't really seem like people give a shit one way or the other. Some people it seems though, want people to give a shit, just so they can post 5 paragraph diatribes about racism. [link]

They Clearly went out of their way to stir up attention, from fanboys alike.. and to try to be the first to make a racial change in the comic book characters. For everyone below, who says that ppl against this are racist, alll They had to do was make Reed, or Benn black and you have almost eliminated all this. Or Make Sue and Johnny both Black, no need to create a new story for a classic character saying he's adopted and so on. Introduce your new ethnic character, but have some continuity.

White guilt is a sad thing

I just want to state for all the guilty white people that feel the need to defend a black Johnny Storm, the overwhelming majority of black people commenting are AGAINST this news. Saying it's more insulting than anything and they should just stick to the source material.

These articles about FF really bring out the d-bags. You know....the ones that complain about a black actor getting a part they think should belong to a white one, and how this will make the movie unwatchable for them. Then they say why don't we make Black Panther white because they're too fucking stupid to understand the difference, or the historical context of these characters. You're in the wrong time. You should have been born 50 years ago.

As recompense I demand satisfaction by recasting Shaft with Channing Tatum! If we have truly moved forward as all those teachers in school once insisted to me we had, then no one would be talking about this casting. People would be like, "Oh I look forward to seeing this movie," or "I'm really not into Fantastic Four, so I'll just skip it."

This diversity thing is bollocks, Its just Marxist ideaology filtered into the media. Its like this bullshit about positive discrimination you cant have positive discrimination because you are always discriminating someone. This agenda to push diversity is just making an issue out of race. Keep blade black keep superman white, the way they were originally intended and stop using films as a promotion vehicle. You're assuming Jordan was cast to stir up people. He's not just any random black actor though, he is a young guy coming off a prestigious year and has a professional (maybe personal) relationship with the director. There was never anyone else in the running, they literally targeted and went after this one guy. I don't think he was cast because he was black, I think he was cast because they like him.

Then cast him as another character. I have nothing against the guy and I actually like him as an actor. But this is just another example of all the leads being white so we need to chuck in a black guy to appease a certain ethnic group. Colour of the skin can be very important to a character as it can give the audience an idea of roots, culture, class etc. Johnny Storm is brother to Sue Storm and they were written as white characters.

Color of skin can be important, but not always, and certainly not for Johnny Storm. No one is saying Jordan can do sarcasm. Or hot-hotheadedness. Or charming. Or all the other things that actually make up the character of Johnny Storm. They are saying he's bad for Johnny Storm because he doesn't look like him. that's not a good enough reason for me to say this is a bad choice.

Yeah no. Jesse Eisenberg is a bad choice for Lex Luther because he looks nothing like the way Lex Luther has been depicted in the past. Jordan is the wrong choice for Johnny Storm because he is black. Plain and simple. I'm sure he's a great actor, just not for this part.

Lame

I'm def skipping this movie. This cast is who they think is going to build their new franchise? Reed Richards looks 15, Kate Mara looks 30. The Human Torch is black but Sue Storm isn't. How are they brother and sister? Adoption? That's retarded. And with the rumors of a female Dr.Doom, I'm out. How hard is it to seriously just stick to the characters? This is the WHOLE reason comic book movies didn't work in the 80s and 90s.STICK TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL!

I've seen a few people on other sites suggest that Jordan would have made a good Mr. Fantastic, and now I kind of wish he'd been cast in that part. Ah well. He'll still be great as Johnny. Also, I would love it if they didn't give any explanation as to why Johnny and Sue don't have the same skin color. Just one "Hey, bro", "Hey, sis" moment between them and leave it at that.

Why are there so many complaints about age? All these actors are in their mid to late twenties, which is actually the appropriate age for Thing and Mr. Fantastic when the FF were starting out. You could say that Jordan and Mara are way too old, because their characters were teenagers when they went into space.

OK, OK, OK...

So seems pretty terrible, OK. But readers of the comics -- what are the merits of the series that feature a younger FF? I'm only familiar with this comic as far as reading ABOUT it and its history (never actually getting into the books). And of course seeing the films. What's the appeal of younger versus older?

Here a question for Cerealkiller182.

Apparently you must be on Fox's payroll. Seeing as how Deadpool is your avatar, do you like what they did with his character in X-men Origins: Wolverine? Because that's exactly the kind of FF movie you are going to get.

I hated what they did with deadpool, and I was very upfront about it. And when FF does something that I don't like, I'll be upfront about that too. There's many rumors surrounding this project, a number of which are not good, and if any of them prove correct, I will certainly criticize them. This casting announcement is not one of them. I hated what they did with deadpool, and I was very upfront about it. And when FF does something that I don't like, I'll be upfront about that too. What a shallow attempt to undermine my opinion. I must be on someone's payroll because I like this news?

First off, I was joking around. Second, you seem to be one of the few people on this board who thinks the casting news is a positive. Casting Michael B Jordan as the Human Torch is the studios way of trying to market the movie to a wider audience, the same way studio's like to dumb down movies that should be rated R. Unfortunately with the first two FF movies leaving such a bad taste in peoples mouths, Fox is only going to further alienate the fanboys, and lets face it, they are the ones who

Fanboys are not always the ones who buy tickets. They are infamously bad predictors of the market. Thus this chart [link]

Fans are also incredibly fickle and hyberbolic when it comes to casting announcements.

Considering Jordan has a previous working relationship with Trank I don't think Jordan was pushed on him by the studio. They weren't looking for a black guy. They were looking for Michael B. Jordan. He was the one and only rumor for the role from the very beginning. If he said no,

Its not even about it being a positive. Its about not being a negative.I really don't care why they cast Michael B. Jordan. My only concern is if he can do the character justice, just like any other character. I absolutely think he can despite not looking like the character. I think he is one of the best options despite his skin color. But people refuse to take a breath and really look at this guy's ability because he doesn't look like the guy ripped from the book. I don't care that they flipped his race. It trivialize's comic characters if you just search for look-alikes.

Where'd Emmy go?

At first sight... WTF?! This has got to be a gag.
Upon further evaluation... I really like Jamie Bell but, he's better suited for Human Torch. If Michael and Jamie were to swap roles I might be okay with this. Kate has never impressed me, she has actually annoyed me in most flicks I've seen her in but, I will see this... on Blu-Ray.

i might be in the minority here, but i actually like the casting. when talking about the elephant in the room, i have no problem with Jordan as Johnny Storm, as someone from a mixed race family i assume that Sue and Johnny are adopted siblings or half siblings (children of divorce and remarriage), its 2014, that's pretty normal these days.
I will say that i'm pretty shocked at the casting of Jamie Bell (if its 100% final), i just assumed that he'd be a larger actor physically, every FF book

I will say that i'm pretty shocked at the casting of Jamie Bell (if its 100% final), i just assumed that he'd be a larger actor physically, every FF book i've ever read has always had the human Ben be a little bigger than Reed, but again, no judgement. I've seen Bell in plenty and he's a very capable actor, i just hope he can keep his accent in check.
Finally as far as their age goes, everyone in the movie is 27 and over. its not like they've cast kids straight off of the Disney channel.
Yes, i'm aware that the casting of Jordan is playing to a certain market and is designed to get people talking and spreading the buzz. surprise, its working. let's get over it and hope for the best.

PS: i would also love the rights to go back to Marvel, but thats just the supernerd in me.

Glad to see that Mara's risque performance in House of Cards hasn't made it impossible to find work on pg-13(pg?) popcorn movies like those roles have done to actresses in the past.

Everyone needs to chill regarding the age of the cast. They are clearly adapting the Ultimate comics where the FF4 are in highschool.

The only casting I don't care for, is Jamie Bell.

Not because he isn't a good actor, but Ben should be big enough to take on multiple bullies picking on Reed, and you don't get that impression when you see Bell.

Also, in one of my favourite FF story arcs, a non powered Ben Grimm KO's a Skrull. Again, I can't see Bell pulling that off.
