Teaser Trailer for Disney/Marvel's Big Hero 6 just squeezed in

05.22.2014

Earlier this week we got to see a few images and a tease for BIG HERO 6's trailer. Today, the official teaser trailer has hit, showcasing a scene from the upcoming Disney/Marvel crossover.

Check out how difficult it is to suit up:

Given that this is the first animated picture featuring a Marvel property, it's seems odd that any mention of Marvel is absent in this teaser, instead choosing to highlight FROZEN and WRECK-IT RALPH. The teaser decides to highlight a more humorous tone (I dug it), but I'm eager to see a little more to get an idea of the scope for this film.

BIG HERO 6, featuring the voices of Jamie Chung, T.J. Miller, and Maya Rudolph, will be released this fall on November 7, 2014.

Very charming

It nods to THE INCREDIBLES, which is always a good thing. DIsney looks like it's rediscovered its mojo: now John Lasseter has to go back and fix Pixar!

The Incredibles

Looks like Disney decided to take the exact same approach to their teaser as Pixar did for The Incredibles. Remember Bob Parr trying to fit his fat gut into his old suit? Now we have a fat blob trying to fit into a suit. Still love the teaser, but I certainly noticed the similarity.

That makes sense. I edited my post to erase that comment, now that I know the release date is still the same.

It would be cool if this was connected to the Marvel universe by having a character watching it in another MU movie or having it play at a theater in the background or something, almost like a fictional movie in the Marvel U got made.

Big Hero 6 looks like superhero entertainment for the whole family, and I mean that comment as a compliment. Sometimes, the PG-13 Marvel movies might be a bit "heavy" for small kids. Big kids (such as ourselves) appreciate a lighter superhero tale too.
Disney might exclude the usual flippin' Marvel logo for two reasons. One, the company wants to distance Big Hero 6 from Marvel's somewhat violent fare. Two, Disney does not want Big Hero 6 connected to the Cinematic Marvel Universe's canon. I

Two, Disney does not want Big Hero 6 connected to the Cinematic Marvel Universe's canon. I remember vaguely that a JoBlo article indicated that Big Hero 6 happens in a separate world than the mainstream cinematic Marvel universe. But, I could be remembering inaccurately.

I have a question, BTW. The article has November, 2014, listed for the movie's release. I have November noted on the kitchen calendar as well. However, the trailer lists February, 2015. Has the release date moved?

This a in name only marvel flick, the Original 90's marvel comic was Sunfire and the big hero six. Back then every x character was getting a book and sunfire made his first appearance in an early issue of x-men. This goofy flic is nothing like the comic and the that goof ball white thing resembles box from alpha flight very loosely. I'd love to Disney make a flic out of marvels mort the dead teenager!

No Marvel?

If this is indeed based on an existing Marvel property why wouldn't they mention it AT ALL in the trailer??
Seems like a serious mistake to leave out the iconic turning red pages of the Marvel logo considering we've been seeing it ALL year so far with Cap, Spidey, X-men, Guardians, etc... why not try to remind people of the common ties between them?

I read, when the project was initially announced, that they decided to do it Disney instead of Marvel because they were worried people would think it was a more mature comic adaptation. As iconic as the page turn has become, its also been a very good way for parents to know automatically if what is going to play is acceptable for their children.
