The Legends Unite! Check out the first trailer for Escape Plan starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone!

Jun. 27, 2013by: Paul Shirey

After decades of competing with one another in the action genre, two of the biggest legends of the era, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have united to star in their first full feature together, ESCAPE PLAN, and now we have our first look at the film. Although, Schwarzenegger made appearances in Stallone's THE EXPENDABLES films, this is a full-on team up for the action icons.

Check it out:

This looks like a much more refined action pic than the last two solo pics these stars put out (THE LAST STAND and BULLET TO THE HEAD, respectively). Great setting, cool concept, and an air of old school nostalgia make this a sure bet for action fans. Lock me up! I'm in.

Here's the synopsis:

One of the world's foremost authorities on structural security agrees to take on one last job: breaking out of an ultra-secret, high-tech facility called "The Tomb." Deceived and wrongly imprisoned, Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to help devise a daring, nearly impossible plan to escape from the most protected and fortified prison ever built. Escape Plan is the first pairing of action legends Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in leading roles, and co-stars Jim Caviezel, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D'Onofrio and Amy Ryan.

ESCAPE PLAN breaks out on October 18, 2013.

Even the trailer (which was great) had me thinking it was going to finish with "The Tomb". But then .... "Escape Plan". Ugh, it's such a weak title. Still going to see this though!

Agreed.

Whatever "it" is, this movie appears to have "it" compared to The Last Stand or Bullet to the Head. Count me in!

Looks entertaining, but why oh why after all these years of firing guns in movies does Arnold still fire from the hip? It always looks so amateur, someone should train him to handle a firearm with skill and authenticy. Look down the sights for Pete's sake!

You do not screw with the Sly! This looks really good apart from 50 cent. It's definitely got a bit of that Logan's Run or THX 1138 feel to it, I was expecting this to be more of a traditional prison escape flick and the design elements definitely add some flavour to it. Jim Caviezel also looks pretty badass in this one, I really like him as an actor.

Face/Off 2

From what i can tell is that they took a page out of Face Off. Not with 2 guys swapping faces but with a prison that is off the maps and under an oil rig. Our hero has to escape an inescapable prison.

Is it just me......

Or does this trailer give the impression Arnie isn't actually in the movie for all that long! This first trailer seems to be all about Stallone's character so hopefully there will be a second trailer focusing more on Schwarzeneggers role in the film and assuring us that he isn't just in the film for a few scenes in the middle of the movie! I am a big fan of both and have been looking forward to them doing a film together for many years but I am a little worried this is more of a Stallone film

Whichever way it goes the film does look like a lot of fun and the poster is very cool too!

"I'm gonna find out whoever did this to me."

Cue Donald Sutherland from out of the shadows - "It was me. I'm still pissed about the last time you escape from one of my pris... Oh??? Wait... never mind. You looked like someone I once knew. Guards! Release this man!"
Cue credits.

Sold.

I'm sure there will be some eye-rolling, but I am so on board.
I'd agree with the gripe about the talent behind the camera though. We're getting Blockbuster sale-bin directors. Show some respect for these legends who helped defined the term blockbuster. Get them some better off screen talent.

huhuhu, You hit like a vegetarian !!! This line alone makes me go for it, without thinking twice !!!

I'm not expecting to watch a masterpiece, but anything that could entertain me for some time would be good... I've seen this old dudes in everything they've done, since i grew up watching their movies, and recently i re-watched all of their movies, and I've seen a couple ones that were terrible, but most of them are good enough...!!! Hope this one works.

Jim n' Arnold REALLY need to make True Lies 2.

That shot of Arnold using the machine gun at the end really made me realize how much True Lies 2 would kick ass. Unlike Terminator, it would be realistic for his character to have aged significantly, and let's face it, True Lies is an Arnie/Cameron classic! It could be a big hit. I want it to happen...

I just can not fathom Hollywood. Arnold fucking Schwarzenegger and Sylvester goddamned Stallone get together for a flick (again) and they can't get a solid, experienced action director to direct (again)?
No, they get the guy who made 1408, Derailed, The Rite and Shanghai. And two writers responsible for even worse shit.
Hopefully Arnie and Sly will manage to make this bearable. Though with one-liners like "You hit like a vegetarian." it's very unlikely.

Pretty good trailer!

Lately, it seems that Stallone is really utilizing some some acting chops in his movies....or at least the ones I've seen. For example, Expendables II actually had a okay script.* It wasn't strong, and some sequences killed the 'realism' that the movie maintained, but I believed Stallone's character - who didn't insult with his performance - and I wanted him 'to get' Jean Claude Van Damme's villain. (Jean Claude Van Damme, by the way, did a really good job as the villain...although, I did wish

Even though we've seen the premise of a guy being wrongly imprisoned by an unseen or unknown villain many times before, this particular movie seems to put Stallone and Schwarzenegger in a better production. Also, the fact that we have Vincent D'nofrio (sp?) and James Caveziel(sp?) isn't bad either.

I actually want to see this movie, because I want to know who set up Stallone's character.:-)

*Yes, I also probably like part 2 because of Nan Yu.

Awesome!!!

I was really hoping they would make a real action movie with this premise and it looks like they did. It's got that star power quality of having the two leads together, the manliness you would expect, and it looks to be action packed. Also "You hit like a Vegetarian." Few things make me happier than seeing a new and quality Arnold One-Liner.
