What did you think of…IT?

IT is here! Based on Stephen King's 1986 novel about an evil being that terrorizes a small town in Maine, the first feature film adaptation has arrived and so far it's scaring up some serious hype. Adapted as a mini-series in 1990 which starred Tim Curry as Pennywise, the visage of the evil clown (among other forms) has left its mark on pop culture everywhere and begged to see an updated version to carry on the tradition. Enter WB and director Andy Muschietti (MAMA) who have taken on the task of adapting the "kids version" of the epic tale for modern audiences (while retaining the time period) and perpetuating the awesome horror that is Pennywise, this time played by Bill Skarsgard in what is sure to be the new standard for the character going forward.

Reviews for IT have thus far been pretty great with most reviews heralding Skarsgard's performance, the performances from the young cast and praising both the horror and the humor, which is rare for the genre. Our own Eric Walkuski gave the film an 8/10 and said, "The film has a palpable atmosphere of dread and uneasiness, and that's thanks to Muschietti, who nails both the nostalgic and frightening angles of the story. He also evidently knows how to orchestrate his youthful stars. The sequences when the Losers Club are together, either hanging around or plotting their next move, have an authentic feel that is crucial to ensuring this thing will work."

And with that, now it's your turn! We want to hear what YOU thought of the film! Naturally, we'd prefer you to comment only if you've seen the film as that's the point here, but do what feels good. Just don't get mad if you get trounced for trolling or posting blatant spoilers in headlines. Healthy debate, genuine thoughts, and respectful interactions is all we ask. So, is this the adaptation we've been waiting for or is the old mini-series still king?
