Well before Marvel announced that a sequel to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY would be coming to theaters, an animated series was announced. At the time, it seemed to be the logical stopgap measure in the event that the film would have flopped but now it looks to be a nice addition to the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. At New York Comic Con, the first test footage was revealed for the project that will air on Disney XD.

The test footage showcases Rocket Raccoon in a city as he tries to evade gunfire, only to fight back with his own blasters. Before long, Star-Lord arrives and saves his diminutive friend. It is hard to tell from the footage if this will be the final style of the series or even if it will follow the film or take place in it's own fictional universe. In either case, getting more of the MCU version of the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY should be work the 30 minutes each week.
