The film Kandahar, the latest action-packed collaboration between Gerard Butler and his Angel Has Fallen and Greenland director Ric Roman Waugh, is set to reach theatres on May 26th – and with less than two months left before we reach that date, a new trailer for the film has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above. We just saw a different trailer for Kandahar a month and a half ago, and you can watch that one HERE.

Scripted by Mitchell LaFortune and the director, Kandahar has the following synopsis: Tom Harris (Gerard Butler), an undercover CIA operative, is stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down. The story is based on LaFortune’s own experiences as a military intelligence officer during the Snowden leaks.

Butler is joined in the cast by Navid Negahban (Homeland), Ali Fazal (Victoria & Abdul), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), and Elnaaz Norouzi (Sacred Games).

Kandahar is coming our way from Open Road Films, and the company’s Tom Ortenberg had this to say about the film: “Kandahar is an adrenaline ride made for the big screen. Gerry, Ric, the G-BASE team and Thunder Road have outdone themselves with this pulse-pounding actioner that our team is looking forward to bringing to audiences everywhere.

Waugh added, “What made Mitch LaFortune’s visceral script so compelling and unique for me is its authenticity and how he humanizes not just our heroes, but all the characters portrayed in a region that’s been locked in a perpetual cycle of violence.

What did you think of the new trailer for Kandahar? Will you be heading out to see this movie on the big screen next month? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I’m still patiently waiting for more Has Fallen sequels (we’re supposed to get three more and a TV series, so where is Night Has Fallen?), but movies like Plane and Kandahar are holding me over in the meantime.
