Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN 2 hits theaters today. The time has finally come. Can you believe it? I seriously think we’ll be going through HALLOWEEN 2 withdrawls on those lonley nights we realize we won’t be posting any more H2 updates. The same can’t be said for Rob Zombie projects…
Zombie has made it no secret that he’s planning on switching to music for a while after H2. That’s fine. Take a load off man, go rock out. So what’s Zombie doing after that? Well he’s returning to our beloved genre for another remake of course! The big question is what movie will Zombie be re-imagining next? THE BLOB of course! I bet you didn’t see that one coming!
Variety dropped the good word today that Zombie will direct, write and produce the remake. So what’s the deal? Where the hell did this come from? I’ll let Zombie explain:
“I’d been looking to break out of the horror genre, and this really is a science fiction movie about a thing from outer space. I intend to make it scary, and the great thing is I have the freedom once again to take it in any crazy direction I want to. My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing — that’s the first thing I want to change. That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now.”
Zombie is currently working on the script with production set to start next Spring. So what’s your take on this? Personally I’m all for it. I’ve been entertained by all of Zombie’s flicks thus far and have nothing against the guy… and I can dig on an updated version of THE BLOB. Dare I even say I’m excited for Zombie’s take? Sure it will consist of all the same actors and actresses as his other films… but there’s no denying it’ll be twisted. Keep it here for more on THE BLOB as we hear it!
