Cena, Key and Leguizamo crank up the cringe in Playing with Fire trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Are you a fan of cringe-worthy comedy? Do you enjoy the antics of wise-beyond-their-years children and timely fart jokes? Do you delight in watching some of Hollywood's biggest stars take one for the team by appearing in a family film that looks just as adorable as it does obnoxious? Well then, PLAYING WITH FIRE starring John Cena (FAST & FURIOUS 9), Keegan-Michael Key (TOY STORY 4) and John Leguizamo (AMERICAN ULTRA, ROMEO + JULIET) could be the film for you!

Snarking aside, everyone's got to put food on the table, and I'll be damned if I don't enjoy seeing rough-and-tumble actors like Cena and Leguizamo bending the knee for a kid-oriented comedy. Schwarzenegger did it in 1990 with director Ivan Reitman's KINDERGARTEN COP, as did Dwayne Johnson with his 2007 Disney comedy THE GAME PLAN. Hell, even Dave Bautista is set to star in a cover-your-eyes comedy with Peter Segal's MY SPY. Some would say that starring in a hapless family romp is a right of passage for many muscle-bound male actors, and I salute each and every one of them for having the stones to get the job done.

Here is the officially synopsis for PLAYING WITH FIRE:

When straight-laced fire superintendent Jake Carson (John Cena) and his elite team of expert firefighters (Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo and Tyler Mane) come to the rescue of three siblings (Brianna Hildebrand, Christian Convery and Finley Rose Slater) in the path of an encroaching wildfire, they quickly realize that no amount of training could prepare them for their most challenging job yet – babysitters. Unable to locate the children’s parents, the firefighters have their lives, jobs and even their fire depot turned upside down and quickly learn that kids – much like fires –are wild and unpredictable.

Joining Cena, Key and Leguizamo for PLAYING WITH FIRE are Marvel actress Judy Greer as well as DEADPOOL's Brianna Hildebrand. The film is helmed by Andy Frickman (PAUL BLART: MALL COP 2, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN) from a script penned by Dan Ewen (OPPOSITES ATTRACT) and Matt Lieberman (SCOOB, FREE GUY).

PLAYING WITH FIRE will set movie theaters ablaze when it lands in theaters on November 8.
