Clip from indie comedy Brigsby Bear with Mark Hamill & Kyle Mooney surfaces

I've been looking forward to BRIGSBY BEAR ever since I heard about it. A dark comedy starring SNL cast member Kyle Mooney, alongside Mark Hamill, Andy Samberg, and Clair Danes, it's about, "James Pope (Kyle Mooney), who was kidnapped from a hospital as a baby and since childhood all the way to adulthood has known nothing about the world except Brigsby Bear, a children's show character fabricated by his kidnapper parents. One day, James is rescued and brought out into the real world where he learns that Brigsby Bear is not a real children's show. Confused and baffled by these turn of events, James sets out to make a Brigsby Bear movie to show the world what he has learned."

That's pretty messed up for a comedy premise – but most importantly, it's unique. I mean, there are elements of TRUMAN SHOW for sure, but I think it's taking that kind of premise to a whole other level.

Now, while there doesn't seem to be a trailer at the moment, here's a clip from the film featuring Mooney and Hamill together from the film. Let's take a look:

I love the set design! I also like how intricate the world they've created is, with a sort of fucked-up Wes Anderson/Tim Burton thing going on. I'm digging it.

Meanwhile, while BRIGSBY BEAR premiered at Sundance in January, it will be getting a wide release July 28th, 2017.
