If you were taken into a room that was filled with unopened boxes that belonged to your favorite director, would you ask to take a look?

This is what happened with documentarian Jon Ronson when he was invited to the home of the late Stanley Kubrick. When Ronson stepped into the camper filled to the brim with marked boxes, he had an urge to see what was inside. Luckily, the family of Kubrick allowed Ronson to share with the rest of the world. The boxes, as Ronson says, mainly tell the story of the long gaps between films after 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. I cannot even begin to tell you how fascinating this documentary is. I figured that Kubrick was detailed oriented but he was in fact, extremely meticulous about filing and organization.

Synopsis:

British TV documentarian and author Jon Ronson delves into the massive personal archive left by renowned filmmaker Stanley Kubrick (2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY) in an attempt to better understand his genius. Kubrick was an insatiably curious perfectionist who filed away nearly every scrap of paper during the last thirty years of his working life. As he examines the files and talks with Kubrick’s associates and family, Ronson discovers eccentric, awe-inspiring and amusing aspects of the great director’s working methods and personality.

Take a look at the documentary below in its entirety.
