Dave Chappelle to release two original comedy specials on New Year’s Eve

As 2017 continues to wind down, Netflix has announced that they have something quite special planned to help fans of comedian Dave Chappelle ring in the new year. According to the streaming giant, Chappelle will release two original stand up comedy specials on New Year's Eve, marking each as the third and fourth original presentations from the comedian in a single year.

As per the announcement, Chappelle will follow his previously announced special "Equanimity" with yet another performance entitled "The Bird Revelation." Additionally, Chappelle also released “The Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at the Hollywood Palladium” and “Deep in the Heart of Texas: Dave Chappelle Live at Austin City Limits,” however neither of those performances were filmed before Dave decided to crown Netflix as the outlet where he would premiere his latest stand-up material for a wide-release.

Before this year, it had been more than a decade since the HALF BAKED comedian abruptly stepped away from his hit TV series The Chappelle Show. In speaking about his sabbatical, Chappelle stated, "What I did was step off of the main stage," he confessed. "Because those lights were hot, and I was trying to do other things with my life." Self care is certainly an important aspect of life in general, and I think it's comforting to see that Chappelle made a conscience decision to center himself before hitting the stage, once again.

As to why he'd waited unitl 2017 to make his return, Chapelle offered the following comment, "In this Trump era, there's an opportunity to show everybody that local politics reigns supreme," he said. "We can make our corner of the world outstanding."

Will you be counting down into the new year with Dave Chappelle and his new comedy specials? Did you think he'd offered strong material in the past two Netflix specials that made their Netflix debut earlier this year? Let us know in the comments section below.
