After turning heads at the the 2019 Sundance Film Festival under the title RELIVE, it's been announced that Blumhouse Tilt and Universal’s OTL Releasing and Briarcliff Entertainment are gearing up for a theatrical release of director Jacob Aaron Estes' latest film, now titled DON'T LET GO.

With a screenplay by Estes and a story by Estes and Drew Daywalt, this supernatural thriller stars David Oyelowo (NIGHTINGALE, SELMA), Storm Reid (A WRINKLE IN TIME, EUPHORIA), Mykelti Williamson (FENCES, FORREST GUMP), Brian Tyree Henry (JOKER, CHILD'S PLAY), Shinelle Azoroh (ROXIE WOLFGANG), Byron Mann (THE EXPANSE), April Grace (MAGNOLIA, I AM LEGEND) and Alfred Molina (SPIDER-MAN 2, FRIDA).

The film centers around detective Jack Radcliff (Oyelowo), who gets a shocking phone call from his recently-murdered niece Ashley (Reid). Working together across time, they race to solve her murder before it can happen.

“We have been so passionate about Don’t Let Go and the work that Jacob Estes, David Oyelowo and the incredible cast have guided on-screen, and through Blumhouse Tilt we are able to tailor our marketing strategy to fit a picture precisely. Tom Ortenberg and his team at Briarcliff Entertainment are as committed as we are to targeting this marketing campaign to focus on genre and supernatural fans, who we know are going to love this film as much as we do,” said Jason Blum with regard to bringing Estes' timey-wimey murder mystery to theaters.

In talking about his partnership with Blumhouse as well as the strength and dedication of his cast and crew, Estes remarked, “I’m very grateful to Jason Blum and his focused, committed team at Blumhouse, and to the passion of Tom Ortenberg, not to mention the efforts of our team of beautiful actors from Storm Reid to Mykelti Williamson to David Oyelowo and all the creatives who worked on this movie. The sweat, blood, belief and time that’s been poured into Don’t Let Go has been a blessing and I am very happy to have the opportunity to show it in a theater near you,“

Lastly, Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg shared that “Don’t Let Go is a gripping supernatural thriller and we are happy to be partnering on its release with our friends at Universal and Blumhouse. Jacob Estes has taken his mind-bender of a script and directed it with a harrowing, edge-of-your-seat excitement.”

While murder mysteries are a dime a dozen in Hollywood, Estes' DON'T LET GO certainly sounds as if the project's supernatural elements will add a unique wrinkle to the formula. After all, how would you react if one of your dearly departed called you on the phone and asked for your help to change the course of history? Personally, I'd jump at the chance, because that would literally be some life-altering stuff right there, and I am always down to add a little weird to my day.

DON'T LET GO will arrive in theaters on Friday, August 30th.
