Dread XP interviews developer of indie horror game Earl’s Day Off

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I've reported on the upcoming DREAD X COLLECTION before, which is a cool-sounding videogame project that would bring together a bunch of diverse indie horror game developers, and have them create an array of short, creative, and horrific virtual experiences – similar to (but not exactly like) the famous P.T. teaser from a few years ago.

Now, the official website for the project – DREAD XP – is conducting interviews with each of the individual developers in anticipation of the game collection's launch. The most recent episode is an insightful interview with developer Torple Dook, most known for his creepy N64-styled horror game EARL'S DAY OFF:

Meanwhile, here's the official description of the episode:

Join us as we discuss his creative process, cosplaying outside your weight class, and their contribution to the Dread X Collection: Hand of Doom!

And here's a sneak peak at an early build of Torple Dork's aforementioned contribution to the Dread X collection, HAND OF DOOM:

All looks cool to me! As was originally reported, the gameplay for each game in the collection will be varied with vastly different experiences, such as "an RPG (role-playing) card game; a game in the style of a 1979 Tiger Electronics (toy manufacturer) game that you would see sold at Target; and a shooter"." Torple Dook's own game looks like it'll be an awesome recreation of those classic early-90's CRPGs, ala the original ELDER SCROLLS. Badass.

Finally, the DREAD X COLLECTION will be on Steam and itch.io later this month for $7, with a portion of the profits going to the Doctors Without Borders charity. You can also check the rest of the developer interviews here.
