Razor

The London Night Studios comic book series RAZOR is not a property I have any knowledge of, despite the fact that the titular character has had a couple crossovers with The Crow. It's getting its own cinematic adaptation, though, with Rob Cohen of THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, xXx, and the recently released THE HURRICANE HEIST writing and directing.

Emma Dumont, who plays Lorna Dane / Polaris on the X-Men related Fox television series The Gifted, has signed on to play RAZOR herself,

Nicole Mitchell, a young woman who, as a ten-year-old, witnesses her cop father’s murder by a gang of upwardly mobile crime figures who seek to thwart his investigation into their nefarious activities. The trauma lands her in a sanitarium for a decade in which time she develops a complex plan of revenge on the murderers.

In the comics, Nicole, in an effort to rid the evil in Chinatown, becomes the superheroine Razor, characterized by her suit which is equipped with razors on her arms.

Cohen had this to say about his film's star:

Emma is a renaissance woman. She’s a wonderful actress, a professional ballet dancer, and is currently getting her degree in Robotics Engineering. I have her training in Krav Maga and, believe me, there is nothing she can’t do."

Producer Jeff Most, who first acquired the rights to make a RAZOR film back in 2009, added that

Emma was born to play Razor. She is the embodiment of Everette Hartsoe’s comic character come to life. Emma naturally exudes the inner strength, acumen, athleticism, vulnerability, likability and street-wise intelligence that are the hallmarks of “Razor”. I couldn’t be more excited about finding the right actress in Emma to bring the character of Razor to life."

RAZOR is being backed by Movie View International, Big Fish, Head Gear, and Truth Fair Investment. Grant Cramer, Anna Wang, Christopher Milburn, and Philip Lee are producing the film alongside Most.

Well, the concept of a badass heroine with razors on her arms sounds promising enough. I'd be willing to give RAZOR a look when it's released.
