Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington is Robert Catesby in BBC’s Gunpowder

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Man, Kit Harington is really stretching his acting muscles here, isn't he? Going from a man on mission to stop an evil king, to…another man trying to stop an evil king. Except one is a magical ice zombie and the other is an asshole to Catholics, I suppose. But still.

Harington plays Robert Catesby in BBC One's upcoming epic miniseries GUNPOWDER, which sounds like the title of a forgotten '60 Western, but is actually about the "true" story of Guy Fawkes's and the plot to blow up Parliament. If you've seen V FOR VENDETTA, you know how that turns out. As for the above trailer, it looks…alright. I'll wait for reviews before seeking it out, but at least the costumes look on point.

Anyway, here's the official synopsis:

British activist Guy Fawkes and a group of provincial English Catholics plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in the early 17th century.

Meanwhile GUNPOWDER will shoot onto the BBC later this year.
