Godzilla vs. Kong smashes domestic box-office!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is nice to hear! It seems that the massive monster mash Godzilla vs. Kong has made massive monster cash this weekend at the domestic box-office! Last week, we reported on the film's international box-office smashing expectations (already making 121 million!), and now the recent weekend box-office in the U.S. has also greatly exceeded expectations (especially given the pandemic, and the fact it's also available to watch at home on HBO Max), making almost $10 million in the first day alone!

Of course, in normal circumstances, that might not be as impressive, but it was originally projected to make $20 million total for the five-day weekend premiere, so it seems like it will stomp on that number in the next few days. Here's hoping, as it was a fun ride that our own The Iceman gave an 8/10!

Here's the official synopsis (in case you need to know what Godzilla vs. Kong is about):

Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home. Along for the ride is Jia, an orphaned girl who has a unique and powerful bond with the mighty beast. However, they soon find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla as he cuts a swath of destruction across the globe. The initial confrontation between the two titans — instigated by unseen forces — is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the planet.

Meanwhile, Godzilla vs. Kong – starring Giant Lizard and Big Monke – is stomping onto theaters and HBO Max right now!

So have you guys seen it? And if so, agree with the outcome? Either way, sound off below!
