Currently prepping the FX pilot for his own novel, The Strain, director Guillermo Del Toro is preparing for his next big-screen venture. CRIMSON PEAK will shoot under the name HAUNTED PEAK (despite the recent report that the name would change) with plans to begin filming in February of 2014, specifically from February 10 – May 14. Described as a "gothic horror story" the film synopsis goes like this:
"Young author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) discovers that her charming new husband is not who he appears to be."

Del Toro, the man of many projects, is currently juggling a number of things, from The Strain pilot, a PINOCCHIO film, an Incredible Hulk TV show, and writing a sequel to PACIFIC RIM, but it appears that CRIMSON PEAK will take up the better half of 2014 for the prolific filmmaker. Joining Del Toro in the film are Mia Wasikowska, Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, and Jessica Chastain, all of which make for a really compelling cast in a gothic horror story. I have to wonder how much of Hunnam's decision to leave 50 SHADES OF GREY was influenced by being involved in CRIMSON PEAK. Personally, it sounds like a Del Toro movie is a much better option than a mommy porn adaptation.
CRIMSON PEAK is slated to debut in April 2015.
