Earlier this month, Samuel Goldwyn Films released director Elle Callahan's feature debut, HEAD COUNT. It wasn't a movie I was very fond of, I gave it a 6/10 review, but as it came to an end I was left looking forward to seeing what Callahan will do next… And as it turns out, her next project is a "supernatural border thriller" called WITCH HUNT.

Callahan has also written the script for WITCH HUNT, which is set

in a modern America where witches are real and witchcraft is illegal. Claire must face her own demons and prejudices as she helps two young witches elude authorities to seek asylum in Mexico.

Filming is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles this summer, and the cast is being assembled. Gideon Adlon has signed on to play Claire, and her co-stars will include Abigail Cowen, Christian Camargo, and Elizabeth Mitchell of Lost and THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR (pictured above).

Callahan had this to say about the project:

I’ve always been a fan of genre films for their ability to get people to think differently and with new perspectives. For me, WITCH HUNT is an opportunity to turn the camera back on ourselves and show what’s possible in a society where irrational fears take favor over common decency."

WITCH HUNT is being produced by Eric B. Fleischman's Defiant Studios and Maurice Fadida of Kodiak Pictures. Kodiak's Mickey Gooch Jr. and Diane Gooch serve as executive producers with Telepool's Andre Druskeit.
