Here’s your first look at Diablo Cody’s directorial debut Paradise

I was recently pondering the whereabouts of Diablo Cody‘s directorial debut PARADISE (formerly known as LAMB OF GOD). The cast was an interesting mixed paired with a story about a girl who decides to break free of her strict religious upbringing after an accident leaves her terribly scarred.

USA Today had the first stills from the film, and the most outrageous thing you’ll see here is Nick Offerman. I’ve seen the PARKS AND RECREATION actor without a beard but holy hell I had no clue that was him. Honestly, I thought it was the Dad from THE ADVENTURES OF PETE & PETE. The pictures show Julianne Hough with a ton of hair as Lamb who “has never kissed a boy, is not allowed to date and isn’t allowed to dance”. Cody says it’s “about as biblical as it gets”. Lamb heads to Las Vegas to get into a little trouble, and meets a bartender (Russell Brand) who is there for her first drinks.

When it comes to Cody, the only flick of hers that didn’t get a second viewing from me was JENNIFER’S BODY. Like the rest of the Cody Catalog, I will check this one out as well.

PARADISE starring Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman, and Holly Hunter hits theaters October 18, 2013.
