Author digs into The Complete History of the Amityville Horror

The Amityville Horror Margot Kidder James Brolin

Last year saw the publication of author Bryn Curt James Hammond's book The Complete History of The Howling, which chronicles "the making of all eight feature films, with new interviews from the series cast and crew and takes an in-depth look at the film's source material" (here's the Amazon link for that one). Now Hammond has announced that his next book will cover The Complete History of the Amityville Horror.

According to the cover, which Hammond shared in a tweet, the book will cover everything

from the 112 Ocean Avenue murders to Jay Anson's 1977 novel! From the Stuart Rosenberg 1979 box office smash to the engineering of a franchise...

Recently there has been an explosion of Amityville-related movies, as a lot of indie filmmakers have grasped onto the fact that anyone can make a movie with "Amityville" in the title. I'm going to assume that Hammond will only be focusing on the official franchise, which ran from THE AMITYVILLE HORROR in 1979 to THE AMITYVILLE DOLLHOUSE (the eighth film in the series) in 1996, got a Platinum Dunes remake in 2005, and recently had AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING added into it.

Since 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the first THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, Hammond might be aiming to have his book done by the end of the year.
