Dexter revival: Clancy Brown to play the primary villain in new season

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

There's a new season of Dexter coming our way from Showtime and showrunner Clyde Phillips, who also served as showrunner for the first half of Dexter's initial eight season run (those eight seasons can be purchased at THIS LINK), and the revival season just found its villain. TVLine reports that legendary character actor Clancy Brown has signed on to play Kurt Caldwell, "the unofficial mayor of the small town of Iron Lake".

Here's some more information on Brown's character:

Kurt Caldwell realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone — he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.

Michael C. Hall is reprising the role of Dexter for this season, which will consist of 10 episodes. Here's the official synopsis:

Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami.

Hall is also executive producing the revival with Phillips, Marcos Siega, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and Scott Reynolds.

I haven't watched the previous seasons of Dexter, but I am familiar with Clancy Brown's career and know he is an excellent choice to play a villain. Dexter is going to take on The Kurgan!

The new season of Dexter is expected to start airing on Showtime sometime in the fall of 2021.
