First look at Showtime’s Penny Dreadful series

We've seen teasers, production videos and behind-the-scenes images from Showtime's upcoming psychosexual horror series “Penny Dreadful,” which will see some of literature's most iconic characters come to life on the small screen. Now it's time to look at the show's first official still featuring Josh Hartnett and Eva Green! The first two episodes will be directed by THE ORPHANAGE-helmer Juan Antonio Bayona and will premiere in the spring.

"Penny Dreadful" also stars Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Hearry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani.

The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.

"Penny Dreadful" was written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes and Neal Street's Pippa Harris.
