Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Shocking news has broken this week, as it has been confirmed that special effects and makeup artist Robert Green Hall has passed away at the age of just 47. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Born in 1973, Hall got started working in the entertainment industry in the early '90s, doing uncredited work on the likes of Body Snatchers and Night of the Scarecrow before earning his first screen credit as part of the Stan Winston Studios team on The Island of Dr. Moreau. Since then, he has worked on over 100 other projects, including The Relic, Wishmaster, The X-Files, From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter, Ghosts of Mars, Frankenfish, The Crazies, a few Paranormal Activity films, Teen Wolf, and Halloween 2018. Some of his most popular work was done on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

After working with companies like Stan Winston Studios and KNB, Hall went on to start his own FX companies, Almost Human and PostHuman.

Hall also wrote and directed multiple feature films, starting with the personal drama Lightning Bug and moving on to the blood-soaked slashers Laid to Rest and Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2, as well as Fear Clinic, starring Robert Englund. He directed a couple episodes of Teen Wolf as well. He had been planning to helm a remake of the '80s classic Chopping Mall, working with a concept quite different from the original film, but that one never made it into production.

We here at Arrow in the Head were very saddened to hear that the world has lost Robert Green Hall at such a young age. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans.
