UK trailer for Ben Wheatley’s visionary A Field In England; Updated with new poster

UPDATED WITH NEW POSTER BELOW

Ben Wheatley is, in this writers opinion, one of the most exciting and visionary directors working today. He blew many of us away with 2011's KILL LIST, easily one of the best reviewed films of the year. Our own Chris Bumbray caught it at TIFF 2011 and went nuts for it (read his review HERE), Eric found it solidly entertaining (peep his take HERE), and The Arrow found it to be a brilliant mind-f*ck of a film (his thoughts are HERE). His recently released SIGHTSEERS is another gem that has delighted fans and critics alike (check out Bumbray's review for that one HERE). In short, Wheatley is an exciting new voice in the genre, so we are always eager to see more from him.

We've been covering Wheatley's upcoming A FIELD IN ENGLAND for quite some time, sharing with you only a couple of months back that Picturehouse Entertainment, Film4 and 4DVD had struck a deal for the English Civil War-set film in the UK, and today we have a look at the first UK trailer for the mind tripping flick, which you can peep below.

In the war-torn English countryside in 1648, a small group of deserters flee the raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured and forced to help one of their captors in his search to find hidden treasure he believes is buried in the field. The group descends into a chaos of arguments, fighting, and paranoia, and as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they gradually become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.

A FIELD IN ENGLAND will be receiving an unprecedented release in the U.K., where it will debut in theaters, on VOD and on free TV all at the same time, set for later this year. We'll keep you posted as to when you can check it out.

UPDATE: We also scored a new poster for A FIELD IN ENGLAND, which you can check out below.

We also recently shared the news that the North American rights to the film were recently scooped up by Drafthouse Films with a theatrical and VOD release also set for later this year.
