Young Arnie stand-in from Genisys offered role in new Terminator

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Terminator: Genisys Arnold Schwarzenegger Brett Azar

The new TERMINATOR sequel from producer James Cameron and DEADPOOL director Tim Miller will only be acknowledging the events of THE TERMINATOR and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, ignoring all of the other sequels… but returning franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger might not be the only post-T2 sequel cast member to make the transition between timelines.

The folks at the fansite "The Terminator Fans" have learned that TERMINATOR: GENISYS's Brett Azar has been offered a role in the new film.

You may not know Azar's face, but if you saw GENISYS you saw his body. The model / body builder was the stand-in for a young Arnold Schwarzenegger for the scene in which Arnie fought the 1984 version of himself. Azar's face was digitally replaced by young Arnold's in the finished film.

It has not been revealed who Azar might play in the new TERMINATOR, but one would assume that he would be doubling for a young Arnold again.

Azar would be joining a cast that includes Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton (reprising the role of Sarah Connor), Natalia Reyes (as heroine Dani), Gabriel Luna (as a Terminator), Diego Boneta (as Dani's brother), and Mackenzie Davis (as a soldier-assassin from the future).

Written by David S. Goyer and Billy Ray, TERMINATOR begins filming this month for a November 22, 2019 release.
