Whenever I hear that Hollywood is prepping another useless adaptation, whether it be of a video game, a board game, a mindless seventies cop show and so on, I tend to get depressed about the state of the flick industry. Then a film like THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT comes along and I slowly remove the pistol from my temple and smile. The Lisa Cholodenko-directed indie stars Josh Hutcherson and Mia Wasikowska as a brother and sister who set out to find their same-sex parents’ sperm donor, who totally upsets the family dynamic once he enters their lives. Not only is that a fresh concept, but Julianne Moore and Annette Bening are playing the same sex couple and the incredible Mark Ruffalo plays the sperm donor. I dare any one of you to tell me you don’t want to see this.
