The Creeper is back and it looks like it's time for him to eat. It has been announced, via "Variety", that a fourth installment in the horror franchise, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, has sold worldwide distribution rights to Screen Media.

Screen Media handled the release of Jeepers Creepers 3 and they plan on giving the film a release in North America in the fall of 2021. The horror franchise will seem some changes behind the camera as controversial director Victor Salva, who helmed the first three films, will not be returning to direct. Timo Vuorensola will be in the director's chair for this go-round and will direct a script by Sean Michael Argo. Here is the official logline courtesy of Screen Media:

"The film unfolds as the Horror Hound festival holds its first ever event in Louisiana, where it attracts hundreds of geeks, freaks and die-hard horror fans from far and wide. Among them is fanboy Chase and his girlfriend Laine, who is forced to come along for the ride. But as the event approaches, Laine begins to experience unexplained premonitions and disturbing visions associated with the town’s past, and in particular, local legend/urban myth The Creeper. As the festival arrives and the blood-soaked entertainment builds to a frenzy, Laine believes that something unearthly has been summoned…and that she is at the center of it."

The first Jeepers Creepers was released in 2001 and was written directed by Victor Salva. Starring Justin Long and Gina Philips, the duo played a pair of siblings who are pursued by a creature known as the Creeper (Jonathan Breck), who awakens every 23rd spring for twenty-three days to feast on human body parts when then form as his own. The film was a financial success, grossing $37.9 million domestically and $59.2 million worldwide on a $10 million budget. Jeepers Creepers 2 followed in 2003, also written and directed by Victor Salva. The sequel finds The Creeper (Breck) pursuing a school bus filled with high school students for even more feasting. The film's box office was pretty much in line with its predecessor, grossing $35.6 million domestically and $63.1 million worldwide on a $17 million budget.

Jeepers Creepers 3, once again written and directed by Salva, was released in 2017 but didn't receive a wide theatrical release. The film was shown in theaters on September 26, 2017, in what was originally a one-night-only showing but shown again on October 4, 2017. The third installment takes place between the first and second film and briefly brought Gina Philips back to the franchise after her appearance in 2001's Jeepers Creepers.

Jeepers Creepers: Reborn was shot in Jackson, La., back in December and January and is currently in post-production. Screen Media said in a statement that "As excited as we are, we know that the fans will be even more thrilled (and chilled) to return to the world of the Creeper, now with a much scarier vision from director Timo Vuorensola, who is the perfect fit to restart the franchise."
