Jimmi Simpson on his possible return for Westworld’s second season

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from HBO's Westworld, especially with the delays leading up to its release, but the final product managed to blow me away on a weekly basis and definitely left me hungry for more. HBO quickly renewed the series for a second season, but unfortunately for us, that second season may not arrive until 2018. Jimmi Simpson, who played William on the series, recently spoke with GQ to discuss the show and whether or not he'll be back for more.

Be warned, if you haven't watched Westworld's first season, there will be spoilers!

In the finale, it was revealed that Jimmi Simpson's character was in fact a younger version of Ed Harris' Man in Black and the story we witnessed involving William actually took place in the early days of the park. Much of that story seemed to be wrapped up at the close of the first season, but, as we know that Ed Harris will be returning for season two, is there more story to tell involving his younger self? Even Jimmi Simpson didn't seem sure while speaking with GQ, but he's not about to rule anything out, even mentioning that he wouldn't be surprised if William showed up for season three or beyond.

So far, my involvement in that is unclear. If they have more for William, I would assume it would be a whole new kind of story. Because I feel like this story, the love affair [with Evan Rachel Wood’s character, Dolores], we know everything, we know what happens, we don’t have to belabor that point. But if they have a reason—I mean, it was the greatest set I’ve ever worked on. But we’re all speculating what season two will be, and I think it’ll be something that will blow our minds, to the degree that the first season did. But I wouldn’t be surprised if William showed up season three or something.

Which other characters are you hoping to see return for Westworld's second season?
