John Krasinski, Some Good News

The world can be an awfully depressing place, particularly if you watch the news with any regularity, but John Krasinski (A QUIET PLACE: PART II) set out to make the world a little more optimistic with Some Good News, a web-series he developed from home which was designed to spread good news. Well, it seems that the web-series is bringing Kraskinsi some good news as well, as the actor has signed a deal with ViacomCBS to bring the feel-good series to CBS All Access.

CBS All Access acquired Some Good News following a massive bidding war, which keeps John Krasinski in the ViacomCBS family as he stars in Amazon's Jack Ryan (produced by Paramount Television) and wrote, directed, and starred in A QUIET PLACE (produced by Paramount Pictures). "Could not be more excited and proud to be partnering with CBS/Viacom to be able to bring Some Good News to so many more people!" Krasinski said in a statement. "From the first episode, our goal was to create a news show dedicated entirely to good news. Never did I expect to be joining the ranks of such a historic news organization as CBS." Unfortunately, Krasinski won't be serving as the host of this new incarnation of Some Good News, although he will continue to be involved as an executive producer and will have some sort of on-air presence. Sources told THR that John Krasinski fielded a huge amount of interested buyers, but that he resisted the urge to sell the series as his original plan was to continue to make Some Good News available for free on YouTube.

John Krasinski will next be seen in A QUIET PLACE: PART II, which he also wrote and directed. The sequel follows the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) after the deadly events of the first film, as they "must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path." A QUIET PLACE: PART II will hit theaters on September 4, 2020.
