Michael Cera looks a little different in these new photos from Magic Magic

For those who are still wondering when Michael Cera will break out of his limited acting range, you might be interested in Sebastian Silva’s MAGIC MAGIC (working title).

Before I proceed, I am in no way bothered by Cera’s abilities. I think he’s awkwardly awesome, and can’t wait to see his return in ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. However, for the longest time fans were wondering when the actor would break out of his shell. Did he do it in YOUTH IN REVOLT? Opinions differ on that one. Well, with the psychological thriller, MAGIC MAGIC, Cera might just bring something new to the table.

The film stars Juno Temple as, “A young American traveler named Alicia who, while in the spectacular Chilean lake district, begins seeing disturbing images visible only to her. Her best friend Sarah (Emily Browning) suddenly returns to Santiago, leaving Alicia in an unfamiliar country surrounded by strangers (Cera and Sandino Moreno). More and more she unravels, seeing darker visions and hearing chilling noises that send her running into the woods. In this disturbing landscape, she experiences crushing terror and knows that she must escape. A destabilizing, psychological thriller recalling the best works in the genre, this film entices viewers into a world they won’t be able to forget.

In these new photos from the film, Cera looks like he should be in an 80s new wave band. Just saying…
