Disney+’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier set to hit the streamer in August

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Although Disney+'s flagship show The Mandalorian has been the talk of subscribers the last few months, now that the first season has wrapped up audience members are looking forward. Lest we forget, Disney also holds the rights to most Marvel characters. It's what's allowed them to transform IRON MAN into the twenty-three film juggernaut that is the MCU. Disney has a slate of live action Marvel shows set to hit Disney+ in the next few years including She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and others. However, on the immediate horizon is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and it appears we finally have confirmation as to when we can next see the further adventures of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson.

In a story that is the very definition of "burying the lead," Deadline recently reported that actor Noah Mills (The Enemy Within) would be joining the cast of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in an undisclosed role. However, at the tail end of the story, the outlet casually mentioned that the show would debut this coming August. This is contrary to earlier reports that had the program set to hit the streamer in late 2020. Aside from being awesome news for Marvel fans, it makes sense from a promotional standpoint as well. WandaVision will also premiere this year, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the conclusion to season one of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier leads into WandaVision.

Details regarding the plot of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are wrapped up tighter than the soul stone in an advanced safe from Stark Industries. We do know that the character of John Walker, A.K.A. Super-Patriot (Wyatt Russell) will appear. Several behind the scenes photos have shown him touting Captain America's shield. Interesting considering Chris Evans' Steve Rogers handed the shield off to Sam Wilson at the end of AVENGERS: ENDGAME. A De facto successor to Captain America, the character is much more militaristic than Rogers and was created by the U.S. government. I am on vibranium coated pins and needles waiting to see how this plays out.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier starring Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Bruhl, and Wyatt Russell appears on your left in August 2020.
