The JOHN WICK movies have set a high bar for themselves over the course of two movies, delivering high-octane, hyper-stylized action sequences that give the upcoming JOHN WICK CHAPTER 3 – PARABELLUM a tough challenge to beat. But as we’ve seen from the most recent trailer there’s a ton of swift, gratuitous action on the docket, and director Chad Stahelski got candid about his approach to the action this time around, especially one scene that he says is a big “f*ck you” to some of the other action scenes out there.

Collider got a chance to speak with the director and pick his brain regarding all the incredible stunts, chases and shoot-outs the movie has in store, and it was then Stahelski spoke about a special scene involving star Keanu Reeves and a horse. One of the first official images we saw from the movie was of Reeves atop the gallant steed, and in the trailers, our protagonist fires guns while his pal gallops through the streets. To Stahelski this is his boldest move yet, and one that tells everyone else to step up their game.

“It’s probably the craziest thing I’ve ever done in my career. Same with Keanu. I mean, we’ve all done The Matrixs’, we’ve done 300, and a lot of the Marvel work. It’s all great and they all focus on one or two divisions of action. This is our ‘fuck you’ to everybody else. So, we’re just going to do a lot of everything and better than everyone. That’s a lot to say, right. I’m throwing down the gauntlet. We got tired of everybody getting slacky.”

To say this is the craziest thing he’s ever done is no simple thing. The director has delivered on some bonkers in the past movies, and yesterday’s trailer hints we will be seeing even more this time around. Stahelski went down a list of everything this movie has to offer, including but not limited to, “horses, dogs, cats, a raven, a bunch of pigeons. Motorcycle chase, car chase. Halle Berry, Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick. Shotguns, guns, and ninjas.”

With PARABELLUM Stahelski is wasting no time unleashing everything his wild brain can come up with, and from what we’ve seen that includes the horse chase and Berry’s character letting loose two very good and very dangerous dogs who for the important bits when taking out thugs. I do not doubt for a second that this third entry will be the craziest yet.
