If you're hungry for more cult-like terror in the vein of THE WICKER MAN or MIDSOMMAR, then HBO's upcoming limited-series The Third Day might be just up your alley. The six-episode series is divided into two parts: Summer and Winter. The first part follows one man (Jude Law) who visits a mysterious island off the British coast and discovers a group of inhabitants intent on preserving their home at any cost. The second half centers on a strong-willed outsider (Naomie Harris) who comes to the island seeking answers, but instead causes a battle to decide its fate.

In addition to Jude Law (The Young Pop) and Naomie Harris (NO TIME TO DIE), The Third Day also stars Katherine Waterston (FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD), Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Paddy Considine (The Outside), and Freya Allan (The Witcher). Summer was written by The Third Day co-creator Dennis Kelly and directed by Marc Munden, while Winter was written by Kit de Wall, Dean O'Loughlin, and Dennis Kelly and directed by Philippa Lowthorpse. Kelly said, "I wanted to make a series that was unsettling and disturbing but that also spoke to fears that ran deeper than horror. The themes of the Third Day have long been obsessions of mine – it is about loss and hope and how both of those things can distort the mind in surprising and brutal ways."

The Third Day will debut on HBO on May 11, 2020.
