Luke Wilson shambles onto the cast list of Fleischer's Zombieland sequel

Whoops! Sorry, wrong Wilson.

After arousing some suspicion last week when exiting a local Costco with a cart full of Twinkies (totally not true), it’s been confirmed by Variety that Luke Wilson is set to star in director Ruben Fleischer’s ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP, the highly anticipated sequel to 2009’s ZOMBIELAND.

Now that Wilson is locked and loaded for the comedic action-horror sequel, he’ll be joining original ZOMBIELAND castmates Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin for the post-apocalyptic romp. In addition to Wilson, Zoey Deutch, Thomas Middleditch, Dan Aykroyd, and Rosario Dawson have recently joined the cast as well.

The nature of Wilson’s character is unknown at this time.

In ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP, Columbus, Tallahasse, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family.

The project is very much a “getting the band back together” affair, as Fleischer is once again directing, with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese of DEADPOOL fame penning the script. As part of the film’s clever marketing scheme, ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP is set for an October release, 10 years after the original was unleashed in cinemas.

Recently, Wilson completed his role as Larry Decker for director John Crowley’s THE GOLDFINCH. In the upcoming drama, a boy in New York is taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition to Wilson, the film also stars Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wolfhard, Ansel Elgort, and Jeffrey Wright, among others.

ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP will shamble into theaters on October 11, 2019.
