Marvel won’t announce their future slate of movies until after Far From Home

avengers, marvel, future movies

One of the biggest questions MCU have about AVENGERS: ENDGAME isn’t so much about the movie itself, but rather what comes after. SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME is for sure on the way this summer, but while we’ve heard a bit about GUARDIANS 3, THE ETERNALS and some more you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking we’re years away from seeing them released. If we have learned one thing from this series, though, it’s that Kevin Feige and his team certainly have a plan for future movies years down the line, and the Marvel Studios president said we will know what that plan is…after FAR FROM HOME comes out.

This weekend all the Avengers of ENDGAME and Feige assembled for a large press conference (check it out below), but afterward, IGN got a chance for a one-on-one with Feige and spoke with him about the series’ future. He was asked if the Marvel team would be gracing Comic-Con this summer, but the always sneaky Feige was coy to stay away from answering even that directly.

“I don't wanna be annoying, but I think it … In a certain way, that is also sort of a post-Endgame spoiler,” he said.

After that, he said that Marvel will indeed be making movies post SPIDER-MAN, but that nothing will be officially revealed until after that movie comes out this July.

“I will say all of the post Comic-Con, post Spider-Man: Far From Home stuff, we … Here's an exclusive. We're gonna keep making movies. We're gonna still keep making movies after these two. And we will talk about them soon after Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out.”

Disney’s acquisition of Fox has fans’ heads spinning over the idea of the X-Men being incorporated into the MCU, but according to Feige that whole deal is still very, very new in terms of the team actually getting to work on ideas. With that in mind, Feige agrees with the notion that it will be perhaps more than a few years before we see the mutant heroes or the Fantastic Four back on the big screen.

“Probably. Probably, only because, as you've heard me say before, until it was all done, we literally couldn't do anything. So essentially, it's sort of Day One. But during that time, we have built and fleshed out our five-year plan of where we're heading, the first few years of which we'll be announcing, as I said, relatively soon, after these next two movies.”

Beyond FAR FROM HOME nothing has been officially confirmed on the release calendar, even though GUARDIANS 3 was slated for 2020 before James Gunn was fired-then-rehired, meaning it will be pushed to 2021 at the earliest. Other than that, we know cast and director details for the BLACK WIDOW movie, but when that will come out we don't know. To reveal anything within that last year would have been to spoil ENDGAME, and we will know more about where this series is going after that movie arrives at the end of the month. Who knows, maybe it's just all BLACK PANTHER spinoffs.
