P’tooie! Howdy pardners, it appears as if Lionsgate has rustled up a rootin’ tootin’ trailer for Vincent D’Onofrio’s THE KID, a biographical Western drama that revolves around one of the most notorious gunslingers in the West, Billy the Kid.

Whoa there, cowpoke, this ain’t no BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE-style Billy, no sir. This here’s the mean muggin’ type who likes to put holes in bad guys while causing all manner o' mischief among the tumbleweeds. You see, the film stars Dane DeHaan (CHRONICLE, KILL YOUR DARLINGS) as Billy the Kid, with Ethan Hawke (BEFORE SUNRISE, TRAINING DAY) fillin’ the boots of ol’ Pat Garrett, the rough n’ tumble lawman who done put Billy in his coffin. As the story of THE KID plays out, the tale follows a young boy named Rio (Jake Schur) who’s fixin’ to save his sister from his vile uncle, Grant Cutler (Chris Pratt), who during the squabble finds himself in Garrett’s iron sights.

Iffin’ that ain’t ‘nuff information for ye, feel free to read the official description down yonder:

In this thrilling Western, a young boy, Rio (Jake Schur), is forced to go on the run across the American Southwest in a desperate attempt to save his sister (Leila George) from his villainous uncle (Chris Pratt). Along the way, he encounters Sheriff Pat Garrett (Ethan Hawke), on the hunt for the infamous outlaw Billy the Kid (Dane DeHaan). Rio finds himself increasingly entwined in the lives of these two legendary figures as the cat and mouse game of Billy the Kid’s final year of life plays out. Ultimately Rio is forced to choose which type of man he is going to become, the outlaw or the man of valor, and will use this self-realization in a final act to save his family.

In addition to shootin’ the picture, D’Onofrio also stars as Sheriff Romero, alongside Leila George as Sara and Adam Baldwin as Bob Orlinger.

Iffin’ the trailer ain’t enough to get your keister in the theater, perhaps Pratt’s use of his Burt Macklin voice will tickle your britches. Either way, THE KID is set to mosey on into theaters come March 8, 2019.
