Robert Downey Jr. now says there are no Iron Man 4 plans

I'm thinking Robert Downey Jr. may have gotten a phone call from Marvel after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Yesterday Downey told Ellen (and the rest of the world) IRON MAN 4 is going to happen, but while on the Late Show with David Letterman, the actor said there are no plans for a fourth IRON MAN movie.

There's no plans for an Iron Man 4. There's no script for Iron Man 4, but they do have a plan and I think they're going to announce it…they've very secretive about it.

After David Letterman brought up IRON MAN 4 again later in the interview, and Roberty Downey Jr. also said, "Just between us, no, but I'm gonna do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's gonna be plenty of fun stuff to happen."

Regardless of what Captain Flip-Flop, uh, I mean Robert Downey Jr. said on the Late Show with David Letterman, I still think Marvel has IRON MAN 4 plans. It's not like Downey is sick of playing Iron Man, and considering how much money the movies have made (with IRON MAN 3 hitting over $1.2 billion worldwide), I'd be very surprised if Marvel decided not to do another IRON MAN film.

It might not happen in the immediate future, but my gut is telling me IRON MAN 3 won't be the last time we see Robert Downey Jr. in a solo movie featuring the character.
