Sony’s Venom swings into CinemaCon with a brand new trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Back in early February, Sony released a teaser trailer for their highly-anticipated Spider-Man spinoff film VENOM starring Tom Hardy, Upon laying eyes on the footage, both fans and critics alike were … um, let's just go with the word "underwhelmed," by what they'd seen. After failing to sell an already questionable launch to Sony's plans for their Spider-verse series of films, the studio has chosen CinemaCon 2018 as the place to debut a brand new trailer for the upcoming comic book action movie. On Sunday, Hardy confirmed that a new trailer would be shown in front of a live CinemaCon audience on Monday night, and so, here we are!

Directed by ZOMBIELAND's Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, and Kelly Marcel, VENOM is said to be drawing inspiration from two comic book storylines – Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes. A few weeks ago, rumors began circulating that Woody Harrelson would appear in the film as the villain Carnage, with Riz Ahmed in-line to play the main antagonist. While no official plot details have been revealed, we at least have a brand new trailer to keep us all interested, right?

Now that you've seen more of what we can expect, how are you feeling about Hardy's VENOM movie? Let us know your thoughts int he comments section below.
