The Fantastic Four assemble in these new character banners and poster

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The latest trailer for Josh Trank‘s FANTASTIC FOUR is still dividing audiences. But, where the reception was previously chilly to the film, newer impressions seem to be warming up a bit. Comic book fans seem to not be taking to the dramatic changes from the source material but, if THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is any indication, audiences may still turn out to see a new take on the classic First Family of the Marvel universe.

Four new character posters and a banner have been revealed giving us new looks at the four stars in costume. The traditional outfits appear to be under lock and key as a treat for those who see the movie when it debuts this summer, but I am beginning to get used to these containment suits.

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

I am not expecting high art from FANTASTIC FOUR but I do think that Josh Trank‘s visual style on display in the trailer offers something to the material. Whether rebooting characters that didn’t need changing was the right decision remains to be seen, but I have a feeling if this were an original superhero movie versus one based on a fan favorite team that we would all be singing a much different tune. I am in cautiously optimistic mode right now and look forward to more reveals from this film.

FANTASTIC FOUR opens in theaters on August 7, 2015.
