What did you think of…Suicide Squad?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

After a string of beautifully-chopped trailers and a solid marketing campaign, director David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD has arrived and the results are…quite mixed. Much like BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, the film has garnered a blend of reactions from love to hate to mediocrity, leaving fans in a tizzy over whether critics have been overly harsh or if WB is fumbling the ball on the DCEU. Starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jared Leto, Jay Hernandez, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Cara Delevingne, the "bad guys fighting evil" superhero flick has been on the hype train for a good while and looks to clear a solid opening regardless of any negative reviews.

Speaking of which, our own Chris Bumbray seemed to mostly enjoy the flick, giving it a 7/10, saying, "…it's occasionally messy, but it’s also quite dynamic at parts and Robbie’s heroine is one of the most exciting to hit the big-screen in years." Eric Walkuski's AITH review was less favorable, giving it a 5/10, saying, "…it's an uncomfortable amalgam of routine action movie and gonzo cartoon, where Ayer's sensibilities are consistently tampered down by the lame constraints of a company too afraid to let him go wild." I'll be sharing my own review on the site tomorrow, so we should have a decent round-up of our thoughts here at JoBlo.com, but if you've read my recent C'mon Hollywood, then you know how I feel about getting too worked up about reviews in general. In the end, you can and should make up your own mind about the film.

And with that, now it's your turn! We want to hear what YOU thought of the film! You can POST YOUR OWN REVIEW of the film in the below strikebacks or on your own Movie Fan Central profile, if you so desire. Naturally, we'd prefer you to comment only if you've seen the film as that's the point here, but do what feels good. Just don't get mad if you get trounced for trolling. Healthy debate, genuine thoughts, and respectful interactions is all we ask. So, let's hear it: Was it a letdown in terms of anticipation or did it deliver on your expectations? Is the DCEU in trouble or on the right track?
