Raven Banner & XYZ Films tag in for Portal to Hell, starring Roddy Piper

Last month we learned that wrestling superstar-turned-actor Roddy Piper was set to face off against Cthulu in a badass sounding short film titled PORTAL TO HELL, a short film currently in the works from director Vivieno Caldinelli, writer Matt Watts, executive producer Todd Brown (THE RAID), executive producer Andrew Rosen, and FX guru Steve Kostanski (MANBORG). It seems that the short films running time just won't be enough to handle all of the awesomeness of combining "Rowdy" Roddy and Cthulu in a battle royale of epic proportions as Twitch is reporting that a feature film version is now in the works.

Twitch has learned that the fine lads at Raven Banner Entertainment have come on board to help with the feature film version. Raven Banner will handle Canadian and International sales while XYZ Films will handle U.S. sales. It's reported that the feature film will take a much larger view of the short film's unique world and follow the ragtag group's battle against Cthulhu on his home turf of R'lyeh.

Both the short film's director Vivieno Caldinelli and writer Matt Watts will handle the feature film. Here's the plot of the short, which will be expanded for the feature:

Jack (Piper) is a simple man with simple needs. Mostly he just needs to be left alone to read his book. It’s a good book and he likes it… or, at least, he would if the tenants of the building he manages weren’t so damn needy.

And it’s not just blown fuses and clogged toilets… No, when the building power goes out, the culprit is a pair of Cthulhu-worshiping tenants opening a portal to the demon city of R'lyeh in the basement.

Does this count as building maintenance? Is battling the supernatural part of Jack’s job description? Maybe not, but if Jack can’t close the portal the entire building and – let’s face it – the whole world is screwed.

Producers are Lori Fischburg and Ryan Reaney, Executive Producers are Andrew Rosen and Anthony Leo of Aircraft Pictures, Todd Brown of XYZ Films, Caldinelli, and Watts. Raven Banner will also join the feature film as Executive Producers.
