After what feels like an eternity of waiting, the time has come for Netflix to debut a Rebel Moon teaser trailer, previewing Zack Snyder’s upcoming expansive space opera. On Tuesday morning, Snyder posted an image of himself in an editing bay, adding the final touches to today’s exciting preview. The still image is enough to get fans climbing walls in anticipation of the filmmaker’s two-part interstellar odyssey.

Today’s Rebel Moon teaser trailer premiered at Gamescom in Germany, giving gamers and attendees the first look at Snyder’s Star Wars-inspired action-packed adventure. The first film in the two-part series, Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire, touches down on Netflix on December 22. The sequel, Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver, will debut on April 19, 2024.

In the Rebel Moon teaser trailer, Snyder presents a complex world ravaged by indifference, struggle, and war. As stylish spacecraft cruise the skies, hulking alien creatures, energy sword-wielding villains, and tyrants patrol planets in the throughs of conflict. With eye-popping visuals, a rich narrative, and a cast of intriguing characters, Rebel Moon could be Snyder’s most epic presentation yet!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story of Rebel Moon “is set in motion when a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate, the colonists dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.”

Zack Snyder directs from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. Cleopatra Coleman, Sofia Boutella, and Charlie Hunnam star alongside Cary Elwes, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Stuart Martin, Ray Fisher, and more.

According to Netflix: Ed Skrein plays Admiral Atticus Noble, a nefarious Imperium enforcer. Sofia Boutella plays Kora, an Imperium deserter who leaves the peaceful Veldt to fight back. Charlie Hunnam plays Kai, a mercenary pilot whose Tawau-Class freighter will prove invaluable to Kora’s quest. Michiel Huisman plays Gunnar, a Veldt farmer who knows little of the galaxy outside of his small, quiet corner of the galaxy. Djimon Hounsou plays General Titus, a hardened gladiator who once served the Imperium.

Staz Nair plays Tarak, a noble indentured servant who shares a bond with a flying creature called a Bennu. Doona Bae plays Nemesis, a cyborg sword master whose mechanical hands allow her to wield molten-metal weapons. Ray Fisher plays Darrian Bloodaxe, an insurgent harrying the Imperium with guerilla attacks. E. Duffy plays Milius, a refugee who seeks justice for their home — a colony that has already fallen to the Mother World. Anthony Hopkins plays “Jimmy,” an ancient robot knight that once defended a slain king but has now faded into a more peaceful existence.

Snyder, his wife Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller are producing Rebel Moon through their company Stone Quarry. Eric Newman is producing via his banner, Grand Electric, while Grand Electric’s Sarah Bowen executive produces.
