Shadow of the Cat: Danny Trejo thriller gets April DVD, VOD release

Deadline reports that Indican Pictures has picked up the worldwide rights to director Jose Maria Cicala’s Spanish-language thriller La Sombra Del Gato, a.k.a. Shadow of the Cat, which stars and was executive produced by legendary character actor Danny Trejo. Indican plans to give Shadow of the Cat a DVD and VOD release sometime in April.

Scripted by Jose Maria Cicala with Griselda Sanchez and Gustavo Lencina, Shadow of the Cat centers on

Gato (Guillermo Zapata), who lives with his teenage daughter Emma (Maite Lanata) and a small group of people, including Sombra (Trejo) on an isolated farm, without telephones or internet. But Emma, tempted by curiosity, runs away into town one day to attend a carnival and gets her hands on a mobile phone. After she uploads a video of herself to the internet, Emma is contacted by a mysterious woman named Celia (Mónica Antonópulos) who claims to be her long lost mother. What follows is a mystical tale of family, identity and broken trust set amidst the turmoil of one girl’s question about her past.

Trejo and the actors mentioned in the synopsis are joined in the cast by Rita Cortese, Miguel Ángel Solá, Roberto Peloni, and Luis Machín.

I haven’t seen every Trejo movie… he has over 400 screen acting credits to his name, so that would be a difficult task to accomplish… but I like to support his career whenever I can, and Shadow of the Cat sounds like it will be an interesting movie to check out.

We’ll let you know when Indican Pictures reveals more details on their distribution plans for Shadow of the Cat. In the meantime, the poster for the film can be seen at the bottom of this article.
