Sleepwalkers (1992) Revisited – Horror Movie Review

The new episode of the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw video series looks back at Stephen King's SleepwalkersThe new episode of the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw video series looks back at Stephen King's Sleepwalkers

A new episode of our video The Black Sheep has just been released, and in this one we’re looking back at the 1992 film Sleepwalkers (watch it HERE), the first collaboration between Stephen King and Mick Garris – and the first film King wrote that wasn’t based on any of his pre-existing work. Sleepwalkers is really strange and goofy, so some genre fans find it to be off-putting. We shine a positive light on the film in the video embedded above.

Directed by Garris from a screenplay by King, Sleepwalkers has the following synopsis:

When newcomers Charles and his mother, Mary, settle into town, the local residents do not suspect that they’re shape-shifters looking to feed on the town’s virgin girls. Charles quickly befriends innocent and chaste Tanya when he begins attending high school, hoping to take her life force in order to feed his mother. When Tanya agrees to a first date with Charles, she may learn his true intentions the hard way.

The film stars Brian Krause, Alice Krige, Mädchen Amick, Lyman Ward, Cindy Pickett, Ron Perlman, Jim Haynie, Dan Martin, Lucy Boryer, and Glenn Shadix, with appearances by John Landis, Joe Dante, Clive Barker, Tobe Hooper, Mark Hamill, and King himself.

The Black Sheep series features

different takes on horror films that the masses or/and critics didn’t care for but that we found merit in. We defend horror movies that deserve more love!
