Stephanie Meyer’s The Host hunts down its male leads

Now that Twilight is about to be over a mere two films from now (sigh), what will all the Twi-hards do after? Well, if they don’t embrace THE HUNGER GAMES the way the studio wants them to, perhaps they’ll be on board with THE HOST, from their demi-god author Stephanie Meyer.

Here’s a brief overview of the craziness within:

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories.

But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she’s never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

It’s also known as the “only love triangle with only two bodies.” Well this should be fun. I do prefer aliens to vampires, but leave it to Stephanie Meyer to make me hate them too.

Anyway, Jake Abel is being sought for the role of Ian, a leading character, while the part of Jared has lined up many suitors including Liam Hemsworth, Max Irons, Kit Harington and Jai Courntey. The titular role of Melanie has already been filled by Saoirse Ronan, whose name I will learn to spell right on my first try one day. She’s worked will Abel previously on THE LOVELY BONES.

Think this will be the next big thing your little sister will love?
