The Pit (1981) – Best Horror Movie You Never Saw

We’re going weird and fairly obscure with the latest episode in our Best Horror Movie You Never Saw video series, as the film we’re looking at this time around is director Lew Lehman’s The Pit, from 1981. This one features one of the oddest, most inappropriate child characters of all time – a kid whose teddy bear may or may not be alive, and who has discovered a pit in the woods that’s home to a bunch of flesh-eating creatures. If you haven’t seen The Pit yet you should definitely seek it out as soon as possible, and in the video embedded above we’ll tell you exactly why it’s a must-see.

Scripted by Ian A. Stuart, who was not happy with the movie Lehman made, The Pit has the following synopsis:

Jamie Benjamin is sick and tired of the cruel people in his midwestern town. The children humiliate him, the grown-ups ignore him and the mature females excite him. Jamie gets his chance for revenge on all of them when he accidentally discovers a huge hole in the forest, at the bottom of which are strange and deadly prehistoric creatures he calls Tra-la-logs. The Trogs become Jamie’s best friends, and it isn’t long before some of Jamie’s worst enemies begin disappearing…

Sammy Snyders, Jeannie Elias, Sonja Smits, Laura Hollingsworth, Laura Press, Richard Alden, Paul Grisham, Wendy Schmidt, and Andrea Swartz star.
